Popular bookshop told me yesterday that PSLE 2018 papers will be out, in January 2019

I think schools will give PSLE 2018 papers to the students, free (for all subjects). Do check with the sch teachers before you buy those booklets.

Hi Is it necessary for parents to buy past year PSLE papers from popular or would the schools provide as practice? Is there 10 year series? Thanks.

Not knowing that the SCH will provide the PSLE papers to all students to practice, I purchased them in beginning of the year. Do check with your SCH. Depending on the subjects and teachers, some will let the students practice beyond past 3 yr papers.

For our school (regardless of Mainstream/TAG/GEP), teachers will order a copy (not free) for each subject if the student has not already bought a set. School could start practising these past Psle questions (selective) after SA1-June onwards. The trend for SC is that the department teachers will look through the past 10 years' Psle questions, compile & get the children to do. There is no need to purchase Y2019 other schools' Prelims papers (especially for SC & MA) - we swap amongst the schools so your child will get to practise the other centres' too.

On the swapping part, it is very hard to get hold of (Rgps, Nan Hwa) Prelim papers. Other schools, u still can find

While I applaud the parents here for trying to provide the best resources for their children, for parents who are following this, please make sure you pace your kids well and do not overstretch them in this final lap of the PSLE year. I had been done with 3 PSLEs and sharing my own experience, I find that the school would sufficiently prepare them well for PSLE. I did not buy any top sch papers nor attempt to do them all. I just printed snippets off the free website and gave them to my kids where I find weaknesses only. The rest of the time, I need them to sleep early to be able to focus in class and also to continue their enrichments like dancing/sports/art which they enjoyed. I think striking a balance is important to ensure whilst the going gets tough (teachers will nag and nag about PSLE and lots of homework everyday!), the kids can get going on a positive note, knowing that there’s "work-life’ balance after all. I also did not confiscate their gadgets but would only allow them to use after 6pm. In the end, I think my 3 kids did fairly well enough to qualify for a good school, so all’s good in the end.

I think the Primary Schools themselves will prepare their charges sufficiently for the PSLEs. Don’t forget they need to upkeep their reputation. My son’s Konghwa School already got the 3 latest years’ PSLE papers for them. What i did was to get him to do a mindmap of his science topics and keep a set of the math "burning questions" for him to revise before doing his tests. Seemed to work.
