How old were you when you had your first child?

I had my first child when I was 40 - had no problem conceiving then. Pregnancy was an absolute breeze - no cravings, no morning sickness. Doctor asked if I wanted to do an amniocentesis but heard there is a risk of miscarriage so decided against it. I was blessed with a perfectly healthy boy. After that though, I had a few miscarriages.


Pros of being an older mum? I am more patient, more tolerant and take things in my stride.

Cons - No energy! As an older mum, I can't enjoy too many sporting activities with him - except cycling. I'm drained sometimes.......

For me, an ideal age would be 30 and below.

I got married at 39 and had DD at 40 as well.
All natural conception, problem-free pregnancy and delivery.
I had an amnio just to be sure, being an advanced age Mom, results came back good, very blessed.
Now DD is 9 months young.
But yes I agree, have your children young. Low energy level is no joke. A baby is a baby and a child a child, they always need your attention and love. They don't realized if you are 20 or 40 years old :oops:
I always tell my friends, I want to play soccer with DD, not watch her play.

I was 29 when I had my 1st child, then 31 when I had my 2nd. If able to hv a 2nd chance, might choose to deliver earlier and married earlier too. I married at 28 actually. Not much stamina and just when your career takes off, now feeling torn having to juggle work and young children. Mum oso in poor health now. :oops:


By the time my children is 21, I'm like 50 oredy... :shock: If she married and hv children at my age too, wow by then near to 60 no energy to look after man.

Adoption is another person's kid.

Yes, I saw on a HK drama. The couple A+B, could not conceive, the man A, get his brother (C)'s wife (D) to conceive. 'A' transfer his sperm to 'D' through the help of a doctor. 'D' conceive and deliver the baby. The baby is then given to A+B through adoption as their child. Later C+D conceive their own children.

Sounds complicated? In real life, not sure if this happen.

The older generation. My auntie had her 1st child at 18. Her son eventually went on to get married at 18.... and her grandson went on to get married at early 20's. All being the result of shotgun marriages.

So at 71, she is already a great-grandmum to a 5 year old. Compared to my mil at the same age, my mil eldest grandson is only 17. Sometimes there are pros and cons to shortgun marriages
