Daisyt, there is remedial class for HMT but dd doesn't need to attend. I think there are more who get worse than her. Heard many of them scored A* for PSLE Chinese and scoring C5 or C6 now.
I have enrolled her for HMT enrichment class, hope can help.

No. My boy is 13 and my girl is 11+. My boy is diagnosed with High Function Autism, thus, I deferred him one year. He enterd P1 together with his sister at 8. In a way, it helps, as he’s more matured attending 1 year later and is coping well. It’s also helpful to have his sister in the same class as they can help each other with their school work.
Actually, I don’t think that my son will ‘survive’ in RV based on all the inputs I have read so far. Just that I’m a little worried when he’s left alone in another school wthout his sister. His sister is working hard to aim for RV and all their friends are aiming to go there. Well, couldn’t help it as we live in Boon Lay. RV is just across our home … Moreover, my hubby is an old RV boy …
Hear some bad rumours about RV. How’s the new P? I heard that many old teachers have left and some are planning to leave. Do you know what is happening? -

It's indeed quite tough for HMT, especially with all the 诗歌 and stuff. Compo writing style is also very different from primary school. I remembered they are already required to read and understand 冰心散文 in their first term. Besides, they have to do summary, journal and 成语听写every week.
Based on last few years' PSLE statistics, abt 80% of the cohort get A/A* for Chinese, the rest of the 20% get B and below. To be honest, I feel those who score B for PSLE Chinese will feel the stress and is going to be tough, especially when most of the students actually took HMT in primary school. Having said that, there are always exception!

I'll keep this in mind when it's time for secondary school selection after the PSLE results are out.
