How do you eat soft boil eggs?
-
I've often wondered how do people eat their soft boil eggs? Was sitting at Toast Box today and enjoying my teh and kaya toast, supposedly minding my own business.
And that's when I noticed some ladies sitting opposite me, gently scooping their eggs with a spoon to feed oneself. Very dainty and ladylike.
But eh... dainty and ladylike I am not  so I eat mine the way my Ah Kong taught me more than 30 years ago, slurp from the plate - gently. No loud slurping noise, please, because I am a girl, but bringing the plate to one's mouth and gently spoon the eggs, so that one slurps as it slides into one's mouth.
So, how do you eat your eggs? :?

At home: With a loud slurp and a gulp. I will even lick the plate clean.
Outside: Daintily with a spoon. NO satisfaction at all! -

Totally agree...

Nowadays I stay away from soft boiled eggs since it’s high in calories (correct?) But my son loves it. He’ll first use the teaspoon to scoop, then lift up the saucer to gulp, then lick the plate clean like a cat. At his age (5+), he’s still oblivious and will do same thing both inside and outside the house.
And when he’s done, you’ll see the imprint of the saucer’s edge lining his mouth so that he looks like he’s smiling at you. But look carefully, it’s the remnants of the eggs extending from his lips upwards so as to give the impression that his lips are wider. -

Seldom eat nowadays as :At home: With a loud slurp and a gulp. I will even lick the plate clean.

1) Don't have the skill to make a nice soft boiled eggs
2) Don't have the time to slowly enjoy it outside

For me, I choose ‘use a spoon and gently feed oneself’ coz I like the sensation of tasting food. If 1 gulp, I can’t really enjoy the taste of
food. -
I think I must be one of only few, who can only eat a soft-boiled egg if there is plain or buttered toast to dip into the egg. I just can’t bring myself to eat the egg on its own.
-
Depends. If there is buttered toast, I will dip the toast in it and savour. Last bits will go straight down via saucer.
If there is no buttered toast, I like to keep the yolk whole and gulp the whole thing down. Somehow the little ‘bop’ as the yolk breaks inside the mouth/throat is very satisfying.
Chin mee chin has the most consistent soft boiled eggs I know - and with their luncheon meat bun…it’s a deathly combination that is oh so worth it. -
hquek : :hi5: That's how i like my half-boiled eggs too!
Mrs Ang :
To make eggs for DS breakfast, I do the following
1. use an enamel mug with cover (those yellow/light green ones)
2. put in eggs in 1 'layer' - upright or on its side (ie if your mug is small, you might be able to 'squeeze' 3 x 55gm eggs in)
3. put in water SLOWLY to immerse eggs abt 1 cm above(if too fast, the shells may crack)
4. wait about 3 mins (i prepare coffee/milo), then pour away the water
5. immerse eggs again about 3cms above & wait for another 3 to 5 mins (depends how 'soft')
6. crack & slurp - GONE!
Note: if you put eggs in the fridge, you might want to 'defrost' it a bit before step 3. To speed up, i 'rinse' them under tap water.
I use the water from the electric thermos pot. -
I dip toast into it and eat the remaining with a spoon when I'm out.
When I'm home, I'm too busy with DD to make or enjoy this treat
