I think the forum would have very diverse views... appreciate advice.

With score of 239 - aiming for VS (COP 245) as first choice; This has the risk of loosing the 2nd choice - Chong Chen Main (COP 236) and 3rd choice - Anglician (COp 240), worth it?

There is NO RISK of you losing your 2nd or 3rd choice at all. The placement is by merit, you will get posted to the school even if you place it as 6th choice as long as your PSLE T-score is higher than the school's COP this year. Hope this clarifies.

This is however a little risk. if the COP for CCM is 239 and there are only a few vacancies left and you have put CCM as 4th choice, then you will lose out to other students with 239 and has put CCM as 1st or 2nd or 3rd choice.

Just curious - why do u put Anglican as 3rd choice, after CCM? If you can't get into CCM, it is unlikely that you can qualify for Anglican.

Your son has 253, is he offered EESIS ? I thought EESIS cut off is 260 this year ?

Any one who meets the cut off of EESIS this year, but decided not to go to an independent school in Sec 1, but subsequently goes to IP school in Sec 3, will automatically be granted the ESIP, and does not need to take the test.

EESIS : for Sec 1 admission to independent schools.

Your son offered EESIS at 253? Is he from GEP?

JMHO[/quote]As the selection is based on exact result with a few decimal places (239.xxxxx) and not 239 only, it is unlikely that two students will have exact scores and one will lose out due to choices.

Anyway, only ACS(I), HCI, RI and NUS High, are independent schools and offering IP. If you want to \"make use\" of the ESSIS, then, you can only choose from these 4 schools.

ESSIS aside, Dunman and NJC should have higher COP than RVH, looking at past year's COP. If your son prefers IP, you can also consider RVH as 2nd choice , then Catholic high as 3rd choice.

One more thing to note, most of the foreign languages will be held at either Bishan or Ghim Moh. If your son intends to do foreign language, CH will be very close to the Bishan MOELC. I know DH has school bus to ferry the students to the MOELC. Not sure about RV, you have to find out.

HMT points can be used for ANY SAP Schoool, regardless of PSLE T-score.

My DS scored 260 for his PSLE. He has selected VS as first choice. I wonder is this a wise choice. Can anyone comment? BTW, what literature book are they currently using?

it does not make sense to put SJI before CH.

SJI COP for past 2 year was abt 242. CH COP was 248. As posting is done by merit, your choice of CH under SJI is \"wasted\".
