If you buying Yamaha, use the Maybank Friends and Family card to get an extra 5% rebate.xinnamag:
This will be the most expensive piece of \"furniture\" in my house and I really hope that it will not be a white elephant.
No worries.
That reminds me of my aunty who purchased an old musical furniture simply because it matches well with her brick wall and book shelves. -

Hi sleepy,
Why must split the bill to get full $430 rebate?
I'm using Maybank card too, mainly for groceries
Your piano cover is 3/4 length right?
Split bill cos was told that maximum cash rebate per card per year is $600....Already used the card for some other small purchases....
Yap, piano cover is 3/4.....but DH prefers to see more of the piano, so we folded it, only covers the top... -

Hi Vicki,
Yah thats all. Should be standard package i guess. Which Yamaha did you buy from? I bot from the PS branch. Told them to deliver next week (after christmas)!
got mine from the Frontier branch.........The delivery guy says someone will call within 3 weeks to arrange for tuning....So the brand new piano is not tuned yet?
The sales person says during the six years warranty period, better to tune twice a year as recommended.... -
Mum_2Gals:
Whenever a piano is moved from place to place, it'll go out of tune. Usually a new piano will be tuned just before delivery to your home. But a few weeks after delivery, the piano will go badly out of tune again. This 2-3 weeks period is needed for the piano to stabilise in the new environment, after which you'll have to arrange for the tuner to come fix it. Subsequently every 6 mths per tuning is recommended. Read somewhere that failure to tune a piano for an extended period of time will permanently damage the quality of the soundboard.

Did anyone went to this website to search for piano?
By the way, can someone list down the location where we can find new & used piano? So far just went Robert Piano at Centrepoint, they mentioned that they are the Authroised for Kawai piano in Singapore. -
Hi,
Does anyone knows whom I can engage to test out a 2nd hand piano? Any recommendation? -

Last year, we scouted for 2nd hand pianos. The ones I would recommend to pay a visit are:http://www.pianoshop.sg/en/main.html

Century - at Kallang Leisuredome (think 4th floor): used piano. The owner Patrick is a very engaging and helpful guy.
Zadok - Shaw Plaza at Balestier (think also 3rd/4th floor). They have Yamahas and Kawais - owners are very pleasant also. Quite good returns policy (eg if you buy and then wish to return within a year or 2).
Their prices are pretty ok - all depends on the make and model and year of manufacture. -
i3mum, generally your child’s teacher should be able to give you a hand. I, as a teacher, do that for my student’s if they require my help

Hi jce,
Thanks, but I have yet to get a piano teacher. Does a piano tuner helps? Cos I know tuner knows how to see the interior of the piano.jce:

Yes, piano tuners can help too. Actually they are even more knowledgable than most teachers, provided the tuners are of a good standard.
