Should send your daughter for a thorough medical checkup. Perhaps you may want to add in vit supplements, there are some reputable brands of multivitamins for kids in the market.Try to massage your daughter’s scalp to enhance the blood circulation and throughflow of the ‘qi’ within the scalp.

            plum-cake:
She is seven and a half yrs old and started losing her hair.

It falls out when I comb her hair or wash.
Its looks like the hair come out from the scalp straight away.
There is no proof of breaking off. Its just comes out when I run my fingers through it.
My daughter eats well and she is not fussy .
hi plumcake, may i know for how long did your girl lose her hair? and roughly how many hair strands per day?

my girl is 7 and has been dropping hair for the past 2 wks. in the house can find strands of hair everywhere. estimate abt 100 or more per day. brought her to pediatrician and he said could be due to her having fever 3 months ago. there's nothing we can do and the hair will continue to drop for weeks. Although new hair will grow but it will be not so soon.

i intend to cut her hair from waist length to above shoulder although doc say it will not help. i'm really worried as her hair is really thinning. very \"xin tong\".

anyone there has similar experience to share some advise? thanks a lot. 😞

I think enough sleeping time will help to prevent hairlost, for 7-year-old children, must sleep 10 hours per day.

Is she under alot of stress? Maybe she cannot adjust to Pri 1? My sis started losing lots of hair when she was studying abroad during her Uni days until we had to buy her a wig to wear during lectures.

I think it was because of the stress she was undergoing and also she told us that she used to lie on the carpet in the student apartment, so probably carpet was dirty. She consulted doctor (couldn’t remember whether she had any jabs) and within a few months, her hair started to grow again.

I will check with my sis later and let you know.

                  emerald:

I experimented with a few shampoo brands and finally settled for one when I noticed some improvement.

Hi emerald can I ask you what shampoo is that? I think I might switch back to J & J baby shampoo

Yes J & J is good. My DD is 9 years old and still using J & J shampoo.

It could be due to Alopecia Areata. My boy (P3) has his hair falling rapidly after a fall at an escalator. In less than a month, he dropped close to 60% of his hair. We saw a dermatologist and was told to wait for hair to finish dropping and start medication later. All in all, it took about 3 months for his hair to complete the dropping process and 2 months for it to grow back. Now, his hair are thicker and denser than before. It’s like a carpet on his head!!! Process was not fun but certainly glad that all is over for now.

Patience is needed. Hang in there, friends.
