Honestly, I cannot understand why men carry their girlfriends bags? Such an ugly sight. -

Hmm, I try to do some 'manly' things when holding dw's handbag - I must emphasize again I did this only when she was expecting - such as scratching my armpit, picking my nose etc ..... :rotflmao:

No matter what this lad's reason was or worse if the maid was told to or
worst still if it was indeed an automatic duty of the maid to do so cos
she has been doing it all along.. :!:
This trend of being helper-reliant makes me somewhat uncomfortable
if i can be honest. Do not flame me hor.. for there are too many
public incidences that provokes that thought.
It is almost like if a family is soo used to having one (helper)..
Without one, some families can be so handicapped.. like the
house can turn upside down with no one doing any chores.
Children no longer know how to make their beds.. get their own drinks
and in this case of this pix.. no longer no how to carry their own bags
even up till NS. Wow. :faint:
Worse if in camp they say.. \"Dunno how to make maggi, SIR!\" \"Put the
noodle first or the powder first, SIR?\" \"Cos all this time my maid made
my noodles, SIR!\"
I see employers telling their helpers to carry so many stuff on top of
carrying a crying tot.. and then have the audacity to tell her off, \"Why is
she crying like that? Can you please get her to stop that yelling? Everyone
is looking at us.. we're in public for god's sake.. can't you do such a simple
thing of keeping her quiet? Is it so difficult to carry a child without making
her cry? Haiyaaah.. Ma fan. :roll:\" And because that same child is crying,
the helper has to still go buy lunch for everyone.. yes.. still carrying the
child and then doesn't get to eat cos she has to quieten the child down while
the rest of the family members oblivious to the crying sits down and laughs
over lunch happily.. Sad.
In this case of the NS boy, it is not entirely his fault pe se.. but he has perhaps
too long been indulged of such a behaviour. The irony is, that parents may be
encouraging similar ways without realizing. :siam: -

that's for sure. That would be too heart pain

End of the day some parents should review if they had overly pampered on their kids and overly depended on maid. Sometimes we need to let go to let our kids grow up.. :love:
My DS is currently in P4 and I often (not always though) carry his school bag when I bring him back from school after CCA. We took a bus and still need to walk about 12-15 minutes to our home. I tend to carry his bag especially when its really heavy and it breaks my heart seeing him having to carry the bag all the way home on his thin frame (in his report book, it it written that he is 'severely underweight')...
Anyway, I showed him this infamous article and after reading, the next thing he said was 'Mummy, DON'T carry my school bag for me in the future, ok??' :lol: -

Anyway I have seen some interesting cases personally: (this was about 12 years ago)
1) This recruit don't want to shower in BMT. He was starting to REALLY stink. When we ask him why, he said it was because he cannot shower with cold water.
2) This recruit don't know how to tie his own shoes and boots. He also doesn't know how to fold clothes, we had to show him. Heng ah, he learnt after many attempts (on the side note, his IQ is low, but not low enough to be excused from BMT. Mono-intake batch)
3) This recruit was from the top junior college. He has never experienced failure before. So, while he 'failed' in his standard obstacle course (he could not get over the low wall), he just huddled in one corner and cried.
4) This other recruit cried when he was awarded confinement for mis-firing.
5) This recruit. Top in his batch. Best trainee award, signed on with SAF as a doctor. 12 years on, he killed himself in Australia after going AWOL.
This was just 12 years ago, maybe things would be more interesting now?
