How to train my kid to go toilet at nite?
-
good luck to all here doing β night training β for their DS & DD. may we all
kam ba teh. jia you!!! -
This is what I did when I was toilet training DS at nite:
1. Stop giving him any drinks 15 to 20 mins before bedtime.
2. Make him pee before tucking him to bed.
3. Carry him to the loo to make him pee after about 2 and a half to 3 hrs later.
He remains dry after that.
My next goal is to buy him an alarm clock and set it so that he can wake up by himself and call for me to take him to the loo. He is getting too big for DH to carry him liao. Perhaps the alarm clock will be his 4th birthday present
Anyway, its easier to toilet train them during their afternoon nap first before proceeding on for nite training. Nite training takes a bit of trial and error, because have to monitor how long it takes them to want to pee after their last pee. We found out that if we wait beyond 3 hrs, he will def wet the bed. -
will waking them up disrupt their sleep?
the βno drinks before sleepβ and βpee before bedβ works better for me. lol. -

some children has to drink milk b4 they can zzzz... so it's best to wake them up 2hrs later to go p-p

I find it very disruptive to their sleep if we were to wake them up to pee in the night. My 6yo DS1 doesn't wet his bed anymore. His cc started with training him to nap without diapers when he was around 3yo. Then when he was about 4+, we started to let him go without diapers when he sleeps at night but makes sure he pee before he sleeps (he will still take milk and water before he zzz).
There were a few accidents along the way and we used waterproof sheets under his bedsheet to protect the mattress. After a while, he can wake up on his own to pee if he needs to or sleeps thru the night. -

DH doesn't purposely wake him up. He will carry him and then start talking about airplanes and stuff that DS is interested in in a soft voice. It acts as a kind of 'signal' to DS that he is being brought to the bathroom. Then, once there, he will auto just stand on his two feet once he reaches the bathroom and pee. DH will then carry him back to bed again. No problems with that so far.will waking them up disrupt their sleep?

wake up liao cannot go back to sleep....
we hv this pattern at home now cos DH is usually the late sleeper
so DH will be the one waking DD up for her toilet ard 1-2am, then i will be the one to wake her ard 5-6am
so each one takes turn, fair & square  -
