Rulang should take a lesson from Rosyth, whose principal strives to ensure min balloting for phase 2B.
Edureach, this is the first year that the Phase 2B is soooooo out of whack.
So to be fair, let's not paint a picture that Rulang has not been responsible to her PVs..
As I have said, I believe that Rulang is also stunned...
:goodpost: If all else are not workable, then the best scenario - in my own opinion; no prejudice or whatsoever is to join the following thread:

oh i heard Rulang usually has more students to get offer into GEP, so means more vacancies left for pupils fr other school to transfer in, i saw Rulang's school bus drop /fetch pupils near my block while my block definitely >1km or maybe >2km or on the boundary , so i suspected these pupils are able to go to this school either under phase 1 2a, or transfer to Rulang later, but definitely not under PV or 3C.
phtthp:
provided their child receives a letter of offer from MOE around late Nov / Dec time period (end of P3) to choose a GEP school to study, then can transfer, beginning P4 Term 1 in new school.

The no of PVs is definately within the control of school's administration. Their recent years success shall propel more parents to enrol or volunteer as PVs, its natural. Rosyth is different as the principal is selective and strives to avoid balloting whenever possible.[/quote]I agree that the school has control to the PVs they take.
What I'm saying is in the past 2 years, the balloting for PVs for Rulang was only for those staying >2km and if I recall correctly 2 - 5 person were unsuccessful. Of course, they are unable to predict the GRL that are going to register.
So you see, they have been very stringent with their intake of PVs. Every year, only 20% of those who applied are finally selected as PVs. They are sad to turn away so many hopefulls but they have always been striving to avoid balloting. -

It used to be that there was no balloting for PVs.
:? Not sure what you mean by 3C. Do you mean 2C? -
in the past, balloting for PVs Rulang start only from >2km, has become old history.
now bec too many PRs kids siblings occupying many Phase 1 slots, thatโs why this yr we begin to witness PVs from (1 to 2 km onwards, and > 2 km), no chance to ballot. -

Why not consider Shuqun?
I do not think Shuqun is any worse than Rulang other than being less popular relative to Rulang
I guess the 2 schools are so close to each other that Rulang's popularity overshadowed Shuqun. Both schools do produce top PSLE scoring students although statistically, Rulang has more probably because of more transfer cases of better students to the school mid way, IMHO. My DD is in Shuqun P1 now and she is enjoying it. Other than academic curriculum by MOE, the school does provide programs to develop the kids in non academic area. -

Happy to see your posting. Rulang enjoys a superior name recognition in view of its achievements. This school is now the nation's no.1 neighbourhood sch in terms of academic. They must be doing something right. This explains its popularity. Why not consider Shuqun?

Edureach,
does Rulang produce many GEP students - hence termed no. 1 neighbourhood school in terms of academics ? how do you define โno. 1 neighbourhood schoolโ ?
