      Thanks Fairy!

      How about Victoria School considering the rest of the school is not in the east except for Dunman High which is very chinese oriented?

        Cat High also not bad, around this range too.

        happymum8, to make the selection easier, I suggest you draft out a list of the criterias, by priority, not just simply just the aggregates.
        Eg.
        1) SAP / non SAP
        2) IP / non IP
        3) Distance and location
        4) CCA
        5) Campus environment

        Then you can look through the booklet or we can help by naming a few schools close to your criterias. 😄

          I have 2 neighbours, 1 boy at Catholic High and the other boy at Victoria School. Both have their aggregate of around 255.

          The mum whose son is in Catholic High strongly advise to reconsider opting for this school as it is very academically driven. Understand that they perform well for last year ‘O’ level. The boy is also stressed and so is the mum. They have lots of China scholar too which is very competitive. Moreover, Catholic JC is not really doing too well too.

          The boy from Victoria School is balanced in his work and cca and could not wait for the weekend to be over to go back to school. Though he comes back home late almost everyday, he looks happy. Have seen the boys around east coast area and they behave well and very composed too.

          Not considering RI or HCI as these are tough to cope with that aggregate.

          RV is to be located at Boon Lay soon and distance is a problem.

          ACS and SJI’s school fees is rocket high and with that aggregate, you can’t obtain EESIS scholarship.

          VS is autonomous and is the only government boy school. Considering that VJC is one of the top 3 JC, wonder if anyone would consider VS a good choice?

            Do you know what kind of bonus/prority from VS to VJC? I know from Catholic High primary to sec the cut-off pt is very low.

              Can anyone advise if the boy has an aggregate of 255, which school will provide an all-rounded education?

              I will advise to get another 5-10 more points to go into an IP school to avoid worrying about O levels, to use O levels to get into top JC etc. The categories are out;
              IP - top 5%, => direct to top tier JCs
              Special/Express - next 60%, =>4 year O levels to second tier JCs or Polys
              Normal(A)/(T) - 35%. => 5 years O levels to JC/Poly, 4 years N levels to ITE

                HI happymum8,

                Catholic JC is not affiliated to Catholic High. In fact it is affiliated to SJI if I'm not mistaken. A common misunderstanding.

                  I believe with that aggregate he could get into ACS(I) via PSLE posting. But not necessary placed in the IB programme. However, I have heard of students on O level track in ACS(I) being offered IB at the end of year 2.

                    ALL catholic secondary schools in Singapore are affiliated to Catholic JC, which used to have such a bad repute that we avoided applying for CJC. But I heard its reputation has improved these days.

                    Catholic High is NOT affiliated to SJI, simply bc SJI is a LaSalle brothers' school and CHS is a Maris brothers school. No affiliation as such.

                    That being said - hey, CHS has a President Scholar after so many years!

                      VS is affiliated to VJC. So std bonus for affiliation- 2 points off 'O' level results. I heard can also appeal if still cannot get in after deducting bonus.

                      Also note that VJC is trying to start Sec 1 on top of the current system of accepting students at Sec 3 for their IP programme. JC 1 places will then be limited.

                        I always like VS since my secondary school days. Have good impression of the school and the kids staying there. I am hoping my boy will go to VS after his PSLE in a few years’ time…
