Edureach, great to learn from you. Seems you did not employed a trader tactics, more of a buy-n-hold until mkt fundamentals have change. At this point you probably have sold your stks. So care to share when you will buy again after the current STI had dropped enough?

        Tks....

Presently, not ready to take up new position, that's my reading.

In this instance, i shall briefly outline the tactics i often use after every major downturn.

After careful analysis that the general business condition is likely to improve in the coming months, i shall begin my operation by picking 3 local stocks, 1- blue chip, 1-2nd liner and 1-penny stock. Funds allocation is 50%-30%-20%. Criteria for stock picking is strictly fundamental.

Next, i shall study the technical charts of above stocks and before the first position is established, i must see that there is months of price consolidation after major sell-off. Investment position, purely technicals.

Firstlly, i shall establish my line of investment, ie 50,000 shares. Usually, i buy progressivsly 5,000 shares on each occassion as is never wise to do it at one go as mistakes often occurr. Let say the stock is currently trading at btw 1.32-1.40. I shall observe the price action and look for the stock price to break 1.40 on higher vol. Once 1.40 is breached, i proceed to buy 5 lots at 1.41 follow by 1.44 and 1.47. Nxt, shall wait for the price to break 1.50 and then proceed to buy 5 lots at 1.51. Now i hve an investment position of 20,000 shares at 1.46. I shall tentatively stop buying and observe how the stock react after each mild profit taking. As long as the price action tells me that the stock is behaving correctly, i shall take the opportunity to accumulate my nxt 30,000 shares progressively at 5 lots on each occassion. As no operation is completely safe, a stop loss is always initiated.

My experience tells me that when my stop was reached, more often my selection or timing was wrong as the market is always correct.

The above summarises my investing techniques.

          Awesome method.... And patience!

This method is (very similar) to the Turtles method.
There are overview/gist PDFs available online for this kind of trend following method, mostly using Donchian channel breakouts.
Otherwise, read the book by one of the most successful Turtles...

Caveat is that there will be drawdowns, quite significantly at times, so discipline and risk management is very critical. I cannot emphasize more on the last statement.

I admire the awesome amount of discipline required really... :salute:

            Edureach- Thanks for sharing.

Just been pondering about this lately- whats a minimum sum needed to generate passive income? More than 10k or...? Stocks alone or any other complementary instruments?

              Thanks a zillion for sharing....

Believe its your minor sideline to major investment focus elsewhere.... Else really admire your perservance and patience as the down to up cycle of STI and versus, can take months and years...

Then again, me doing that way as busy with work and children. And dun wan worry myself sick over the lots of global/mkt news which I cant differentiate between noise and information.

But dont have your patience and yet to master control over my emotions... :salute: Trying 😓

I am currently using ChartNexus which is free. Anyone has a better one to intro?
