Hi Otah, why do u say that first two year at HCI is free with EESIS?
I thought it will cover all 6 years? DS teacher said that even if u repeat, the repeated year will also be granted 2.4k.

I think what Otah mean is that HCI SEc 1 & 2 fees is $200 / mth. That is adequately covered by EESIS. Compared with some other schools that charge higher and you still need to come out with $$ from pocket πŸ˜‰

EESIS is for 6 years. From Sec 3 onwards, HCI fees is higher than $200, so not \"free\" as you need to foot part of monthly fee.

      Oic, thanks for the clarification.

        I need some advise here.

My DS is a gepper with score 258, with co into dhs, was rejected by hci.

If distance is just as far, should we stick with dhs or try to appeal into hci.

Ngbrdad mention that hci has a better branding. Is branding of a sch important? Does it affect the childs chances for scholarship in future if all things being the same?

Also program wise, which is more suitable and interesting for gepper?

Understand, hci is better in humanities, what about dhs?

Need all your expert advise. If u are in my position what will u do?

            Paddy Field reporting …

My DS had 3A*, 1A with merit for HCL. 26* was his score.
For those who are appealing to their dream school, best wishes.

Anyone has any insider info on RI booklist? My DS had been having too much fun till he’s complaining bored … He has been playing wii, painting canvas, doing experiments etc n still finds it boring. So thinking of letting him read thru some texts, esp those new subj such as geog, history etc to spark his interest.

Need advises. If a school has many Maths or Science subjects, would you opt for the one that your child is stronger in, or just let your child go into the one she is weaker in because the school has something your child likes or opt for neither, just a school with those normal subjects? TIA.

                Hi Langmum,

                I would appeal to HCI.
Branding of a school is impt if u r considering scholarship in future. But I heard this fr my teacher friend who had come into contact with both HCI & DHS students. The latter are more studious in a lecture environment. They r the ones busy copying notes, while those in RI & HCI r busy analyzing n digesting. Being a gepper, HCI may be more suitable for your DS. But then again, not all geppers are e same. My DS will definitely be bored to death in DHS kind of environment, but those who r used to having solid materials to study will enjoy it ..

Just my 2 cents worth ... Hope it helps

                  Hi,

I'm just curious. Does anyone know the cut off point for Cedar Girl's IP ?
I am also looking at that school. From last year's cut-off, it is 248. However, with the intro of IP, I suspect the min entry score to get in will be raised.

Aiyo, let him relax a bit lah. If you really want him to do some reading, bring him to Popular and dump him in the secondary school text book area and read all he wants.

I'd choose what the child likes to do, even if she/he is weak at it now. With passion, they pick up things fast and then surge ahead. Of course, you'll need to do some research on the teachers. If the teachers are hopeless, they can only kill your child's interests. Warning* once that spark is gone, it can be irreversible. I am looking at long term, ok, not looking at just immediate results. Education is long term and is supposed to enhance the soul, not for getting a piece of paper. (Though that helps.)
