i think beginning medication can be used to control and make it all better but for long term, it will be good to cure it by diets and the air quality in your house, the amount of sunlight, the level of cleanliness that affects the amount of dust in the air and of course his/her own lifestyle habits. that can then be the longstanding solution to his/her problem.

That's what I did. Wash the bedsheets every 2 weeks, if diligent enough wash it weekly!
Open the windows to air the room, vacuum weekly, clean the fans and dust on the cabinets.

Hi thatsmygirl!
Ya I do agree with you.. i also hope i can slow down his intake of TCM (v ex!..) and switch to swimming & maintaining healthy diets. Like chatelaine, my family also wash our bedsheets weekly, do daily vaccum, no more aircon at night...
Btw.. is the girl in the picture your daughter??... Super duper cute!!!! :rahrah: :rahrah:
Do any parents ever engage any anti-dustmine companies to do an thorough cleaning and vaccuming of your beds, furniture etc?
For those parents who hv tried, is it really effective??... -
There was this nepal based company that came over to my house to demonstrate the vacumn cleaner which can remove dustmites. Apparently, the vacumn cleaner works wonder as he showed us the amount of dustmite that was caught in the filter bag. However, did not engage their service as it was too expensive. They even promote to sell the cleaner which cost approx $4k >_<

We refrain from medication unless there is fever. So as to let their immune system do its job. The only challenging time i could recall is when they were 4-5 months old. Blocked nose, cough and fever one after the other. That was the most serious. The have now gotten stronger and rarely down with flu. We also give them Scotts Fish oil and lots of fruits daily.

It’s very common that kids catch cold. The symptoms are the bodies natural way to protecting us against viruses. I use natural home remedies. Both my sons 2 and 6 do not need any medications they will recover. All it requires is parents’ patience. Help your kids fight the cold, they will grow stronger every time. I’ve been trying since 2008 and now very confidence that they don’t need medication. Just remove the food that are mucous forming such as dairy products. Try natural home remedies, natural supplements help a lot and keep them warm. If they cough non-stop, rub vicks till warm then apply on chest, back and the sole of their feet for at least 5 seconds and wear socks. If dry cough then drinks take probiotics, yoghurt(make sure not too cold) and apple cider vinegar with raw honey. Take care of the little ones.

Yes, I totally agree no medication. We rely on natural supplements n home remedies if the kids fall sick. I also do simple massage for fever n constipation. Maybe we can list our home remedies here for all parents to exchange ideas.
For cough: warm honey mixed w lemon, stop the cough for my DD instantly.
For fever: apply egg white on the soles of both feet n wear socks. Leave it overnight.
For head lice: spray organic apple cider vinegar all over the hair n let it stand for half an hr. Rub w olive oil, then use a close gap comb to comb the hair evenly before rinsing off. Drop a drop of green tea essential oil into the shampoo n wash hair w it. Repeat this treatment 6 days later. Repeat again if necessary.
That’s all for now. Looking to more sharing. -
A friend ever told me that turtle soup is a good remedy for cough, whenever his children have cough, he will let them drink turtle soup and it has worked well for them.
Unfortunately, I’ve never tried that before due to "religion" reason, therefore didn’t really know how’s the effect. Have anybody tried that before? Please share your experience. -
Anyone’s kid got rashes after a flu ?

My sis’s daughter tends to get this problem too, coughing throughout the night because she claims that her throat is very itchy but sometimes kids like to drink alot of cold soft drinks, this is normal but not too often… My sister enrolled her for swimming lesson every weekend and her cough seems to be better…
