back. had a wonderful trip there… weather was superbly good… only rain half day during our 1 week stay there… we took the airport transfer provided by jet bus… only AUD15 per adult for return. service is good !..nothing much to complaint abt melbourne… love the weather to bits…went philip island day trip including koala watching on tree, churchill island visited the farm with sheep shearing, etc (but only 45 minutes there), penguin parade of course… and then puffing billy train… kids love it… Queen victoria market, night stroll besides yarra river, shopping at harbourfront, south wharf (DFO)…tried paparich at QV… not muc time for zoo/museum though… ask kids they said ok to miss… haaaa… we took the city bus (free) to go one round of the whole 13/14 stops… and tried 1 stop on their city tram and also we tool their yarra train from crown to Lonsdale… tried all… with kids in tow… amazing right ? Australian are very friendly… keep asking "u need a hand" all help up… cos we are with a pram… my 2 yo just sit inside be himself "cutey cutey" haaaa… my girl enjoys more though she is happy throughout…great trip !

Will penguin watching in Philip island too cold and chilly for young kid like 8 and 4 yrs old.? Is it worth the wait in the chilly night in June?

i think aus like to cook at home right? so it'll be definitely cheaper that way

                    Yes, definitely worth the wait!

My daughter was 3 years when she saw
the penguins and until now, she’s 10.
                    She still remembers.
We went in June, cold but keep them
                    bundle up, should be fine.

worth the wait, the penguins arrival now is 530pm.. my 2 yo and 4+yo love it when batches of little penguins climb on shore.. and after that we walk on the bridge side by side with the penguins.. it's an experience kids this age will appreciate ! beside penguins my kids play with the birds.. sea gull or something.. smaller than sea gulls though.. chasing them while we were on the bench...

make sure they are in warm winter clothing and gloves as the wind from the sea is very very chilly..

Hahaha i am sure Melb city council will be happy with increase tourism 🙂

I think the best time to visit is spring/late spring (i.e. Oct/Nov). Long daylight hours, good weather, not too cold not too hot. Start of summer maybe not so bad.. more hot days in Jan/Feb but sometimes temp can also drop (erractic one la). Autumn nice also but beginning la.. abt Apr/May, it gets dark very quickly. Winter good if wanna go experience skiing/snow... 🙂

Ya.. expensive to eat out that's why alot of pple make their own lunch for work or eat simple e.g. museli for brekkie. If eating out for dinner, often time portions are quite big, can tarbao for next day lunch. 😄 Salary high but tax also high lor.. unless u have kids, then can get alot of rebates which offset the tax.. mine is comparable to back in SG after all the tax benefits and rebates cos i am not on super high salary scale and have kid 😄
