I always hv the impression that they don't allow make up classes because they always tell me and my friends that no make up unless there is a letter from school to prove that the child has school activities. However, they will tell us cannot do make up classes as all the classes are full so sorry, after we show the letter from school.
Hi lurline
I think they should not take in the max 15 students per class.
They should take in maybe max 13 students and keep 2 empty slot
for students who need to do make up. Have make up with \"MC\" but no slot
is the same as no make up. That's why my friend told me even sick child also attended lesson cos there is no slot for makeup. Some parents cant effort to lose their lesson cos they paid $$$. -

i think it does not make $ sense for them to keep 2 empty slot just for make up.

however, they could max 15 students, and make 2 additional slots for make up. i am assuming they could not be getting requests for make up classes, all the time, right?
another suggestion they could have taken up (if they are pro-students), would be what one of the neighbourhood tuition centre did for their make up class - they allowed students to attend make-up classes in the form of classes for other subjects if their registered subject classes are full. that is better than a total NO in the case of no vacancies for the registered class. -
So far, I did not have any issues with make-up class in Clementi branch. It is just we skip classes sometimes. I think it depends on our luck. I always ask for replacement one week before or at least 5 days before our actual session.

Anyone can share if the writer toolbox for P3 is good? Are the materials any good? Thanks!

Hi All, I just came across this post.
I’ve enrolled DS to Numberlinks in Jan’13. He was assessed with weak foundations. he attends class every week without fail. I had to withdraw him as they find him not up to their standards. The uncaring teacher and arrogant principal who brings you down as a parent. They made us very unhappy parents as well.
I am looking to get enopi worksheets so that I can guide him at home. Anyone has contact to buy them?
I al also looking for enrichment class for P4 in hougang / bishan / AMK. Any recommendation? -

My DS has similar experience when he went for pre-assessment at The Learning Point when he was at P2 (4 years ago). The teacher whom marked his compo test commented that his grammar is not strong, content is not up to standard and has limited vocabularly ( oh really?? aren't they suppose to enrich? :scratchhead: ) The centre declined to take my son as student and asked me to bring him back when he has improved  . My DS cried. He had thought that enrichment is to help him to improve on his weak areas but the centre rejected him. They were only looking at 'good already' student to begin with. Oh come on...at 8 years old???If he is at 80 % good, why do I need to send him anyway?
We are determined not to support such business culture. DS never attend any English tuition since that experience. He just read a lot of books and magazines. Today, he is consistently one of the top scorers for Eng compo and paper 2.
No enrichment centre or educators should be allowed to tell us that our young children are not good enough for their centre :nunchuk:
This is purely our unpleasant experience and I hope it does not offend anyone.

Yes, fully agreed. And I hope DS will put this unhappy experience behind with such uncaring and rude principal at Numberlinks.
I’ve just checked on PSlemath and MS P4 Achiever class. Their worksheets are not as colorful as Pslemath. In considering distance, I sign up DS with MS. -

This is really bad. MSLC must learn to talk to parents/students politely. If our kids are not upto the standard, of course, they need to help them. We are paying for that, right? We are sending our kids for tuition / enrichment for what? Pass time? I dont understand what do they really think.Hi All, I just came across this post.

HappyH, the rude principal and uncaring teacher is at Numberlinks Bishan, not MSLC.
I hope DS learn and grow up through this unhappy episode. I’ve just signed up DS with MS-Hougang for P4 Maths. He is attending P4 Science at MS-Hougang since Jan’13. I saw he answered better in P4 Science Section 2 for his recent topic tests as compared to P3 Science. -
Just to share that the teachers engaged by Mindstretcher Hougang and Bishan has to pass the interview by the founders of Mindstretcher. Bishan is the HQ branch. Hougang is part of the HQ branch too but not a HQ. Some other Mindstretcher centres are franchise out and their own respective branch boss will interview the teachers before they teach. However, all have to fulfil the teaching requirement set by the founders. So franchise centres also cannot anyhow engage teachers as HQ will check on them. All worksheets are the same throughout.

Just saw the previous posts regarding Mindstretcher and Learning Point. I guess parents can complain to the respective centres, right? I did not know that Learning Point selects only top-scoring students. If it is true, it's a ridiculous practice. I wouldn't send my child for tuition if he or she is already scoring 80% at tests.
:offtopic: I hope that MOE can establish some rules and give accreditation to qualified tutors. I realise that we tend to believe the big lies and half-truths told by some tuition centres (e.g. those claiming to have qualifications that don't exist, or those taking in students who were already scoring A's and then claiming that most of their students score distinctions at PSLE, etc.), but are instead more skeptical about private tutors. If MOE can regulate the industry, parents can feel reassured. It will also help private tutors, who may not have the resources to \"market\" themselves. Some centres are very good at advertising, but I feel that we should put the focus back into teaching, rather than marketing or packaging.
With all due respect to the centres, I think they should be more transparent in sharing about the students they take in. If all their students were already potential distinction students before tuition, the percentage of distinctions at the national exams should be close to 100% and not 70-80%, as I have seen at some centres. -
hi, can anyone help for P5 maths Mind Stretcher better or Just Education better at Sembawang?
