Are All Primary Schools The Same?
-
jesschan:
Yes, Janet. My older boy is the \"guinea pig\" too. Now I keep telling the younger one to build up his foundation in Chinese in lower primary when the workload is lighter.
Firstborn usually 'guinea pigs' but then they get to enjoy parents' attention as compared to their siblings. We learn from mistakes made with the firstborn and then improve with younger kids. Lower primary is the time when foundation must be strong, when it is still easy. It's just like building Lego. -
I dunno if I should be qualify to comment here?
I used to be very kiasu…I sent my twins to a so call top school and got them transferred out during Mid year in Primary 1 as I do not like the teaching and discipline style of the school…
I am not looking back since I put my twins in MONTFORT JUNIOR SCHOOL and they are doing fine there.
As my twins happened to be in the top class, we got the best teachers…
Though my twins are not doing well only in Maths, I am not blaming the teachers as I can see the effort that the teachers pumped in.
My twins are having morning remedial starting from 630am daily and some afternoon remedials as well. We are also currently doing top school prelim papers…
Hence, it really depends on who is the teacher your child is getting…TO me, its no longer the ‘brand’ of the school anymore… -

Great that you found a more suitable school for your twins!
But remedial at 6.30am?! :!: :faint: -

This is very siong. Heard some of the school does have this type of remedial class at such timing for P6. If the school is very far away then has to wake up even very very early. :!:Dreamybee:

630am ? :!: Isn't that too demanding ? My son is still at home at this hour. I pity kids if they stay far away...this is only primary school, not JC or University.I dunno if I should be qualify to comment here?

however, in a more established school, the larger environment also plays a critical part in providing the greater motivation and resources to teachers and students...these are hard to quantify -
