Are All Primary Schools The Same?

tankee:
In that case MOE can monitor, compare and phase out the ones that cause havoc..
I am aware of different textbook, but schools can only use those endorsed by MOEverykiasu2010:
same syllabus same training but use different text books also cause havoc
not all primary school use the same text books, fyi
Err.. maybe vk2010 can elaborate on how textbook can create havoc? :? -
RRMummy:

some schools still using XXX XXXX XXX XXXX but the teachers seldom if ever refer to them, prefer to use other materials .... poor kids don't know how to take notes .... of course interest and marks all plunge la
other schools switched to 'xxxxxxxx' series and wah, so solid ..... kids do well and do not need supplemental materials
sorry i cannot name the school nor the series of books because of obvious reasons -
verykiasu2010:
so are you implying MOE staff are not doing their job in regulating & choosing the right textbooks? and that some school principal & teachers are just simply ???? :?

If it is as you put it, then it is very clear-cut what needs to be done.., no? :?

each school has their own justification -

it is just personal opinion
others will think otherwise -

Sorry that I'm continuing to take this :offtopic:, but if I have all my children in School A, I may not know what text books School Z is using.. and have no idea it is the text book thats the 'culprit'..RRMummy:

Just the school uses the right one..
But I also think teachers who uses other supplementary materials besides the text books are also great.. not easy task, extra work for them, but extra info and exposure for the children.. :salute: -
RRMummy:
only discovered this when the cousins (kids) were comparing notes

Let me try to be the blunt one.....
Used to think that there is quite a difference in standard among the diff. series of Maths textbooks for primary schools. Some will use series A while others series B.
Being the ks parent, I have actually thought of buying the other supposedly more challenging textbook series B as my girl's school uses the supposedly easier series A.
But then the practical side of me eventually says, instead of buying the textbook, why don't buy the Maths assessment books which now practially all come with the title \"Challenging xxx\", \"Higher-oder xxx\"
Just for a laugh  -
verykiasu2010:
