      Wow thank you… Think my gal will have hard time understand the concept.

      Infact I was using my method to teach her,

      Rey: A-85=3x
      X=(A-85)/3
      Jim : A-189=x
      A-189=(A-85)/3
      (A-189)*3=A-85
      3A-567=A-85
      3A-A=567-85
      2A=482
      A=241

      No wonder her mouth open so big

          sorry to bother but I need to know how to draw the box model for Nancy.

          Helen had twice as much money as Simon.
          Nancy had $120 less than Helen.
          The 3 persons had $380 altogether.
          How much did Simon have?

          I know how to draw the box model for both Helen and Simon but stump at Nancy's box. Can someone help me? Thanks in advance.

          How do you know to draw Nancy's $120 less for the box in the model is more than 1unit and not smaller than 1unit?

This is what i teaches my boy too.. to look at the model to make sure that the model is correct after the final ans. But boys..... i am sure he will not check. 😓

                5 four should be 5 groups of 4, as taught in my boy's textbook.

                Therefore, the ans should be Ans 3.

                    Hi plum-cake, this question looks familiar.

                    Is your child doing a school’s past exam paper? Think I came across
                    this question and I didn’t agree with the model answer (5+5+5+5).

                      Bro... isn't that supposed to be 4fives? :?

                      5 fours; should be 5 (times) of the number four.
                      Or like SAHM Chew said... 5 groups of four.

                      DD2 used to always get this mixed up.
                      Kinda a waste of 2-marks questions i say. :roll:

                        It should be 5 groups of 4 like SAHM said.
