Hi,Hi all, I'm wondering about the food here in the canteen of Crescent . The Price & quality.
We were at the St Nics Open Hse, tried most of their food . Yummy and very very reasonably priced. Most food were under $2. Quantity wise definitely sufficient for recess but may need to eat / buy more for a main meal.
Comparative , in Cedar, the price is higher. Only tried a dish or 2 and they cost abt $2-$3 each.
How much would my DD require for recess ?
Many thanks
Both yr DD and u so lucky to have tried 2 different sch's canteen fd.
St Nicks has more stalls as both Pri and Sec levels are using same canteen.
So prices will be cheaper, I think.
Btw, yr DD's friend whose is appealing to Crescent, any result? -
Hi there! It has been a while since I last visited this forum; and my, was I pleasantly surprised by your interest in Crescent! As I have mentioned earlier (if you read my previous posts), I am currently a student in this school, and I hope to answer as many of your inquiries as possible.
An approximate total of 1 hour and 5 minutes is required for me to travel to and from Crescent, back to my home. This may sound unappealing, yes, but in actual fact, it is considered normal. For parents who fret about their daughters not having sufficient time to study due to this “long” travelling time and et cetera, please do not worry. It will only be a major issue if she needs to spend more than 1 hour and 30-45 minutes to travel to and fro.
Sad to say, in my honest opinion, I do not favour the canteen food much. However, as long as one is able to eat at an affordable price, why should there be a need for complaint or dissatisfaction? I understand that some parents are expressing concern on their daughters’ well-being; but this, trust me, is nothing to be worried about. There has been no history of food poisoning in Crescent Girls’ School; I hope this solid piece of information is enough to calm your nerves.
If you are not cognizant of the manner(s) in how Crescent functions, said school operates through technology. Significant announcements are sent to the emails of parents (and sometimes students), and sometimes hard copy letters will also be issued to the students, should there be a need for their parents’ signature or anything along those lines.
Depending on the student’s Mother Tongue teacher, the frequency of spellings will vary. Attributing to my own experience, my teacher tests my class on spelling at least twice a month. On top of this, there will be many tests for students to anticipate! As the months go by, the number of tests will accumulate. The marks garnered from these tests will be counted towards the student’s CA1 and CA2 grade.
I hope I managed to clear a few queries! Feel free to message me if you have a pressing question. -

Thanks for dropping by to answer our queries.
-you mentioned abt regular class tests.
Are you referring to Sec 1 or Sec 2 or Upper levels?
-how often is the spot checks in the morning ?
-h/wk given by Crescent teachers , are they mark by them?
I know some Premier schools these days, their teachers just post answers Online and students check themselves.
-i heard in Crescent, there's 1-to-1 teachers students consultantion after school hrs. Is it true? Must book in advance ?
-do Crescent's teachers just teach the basics of the topics and expect the girls to do more thorough learn'g on their own of the topics?
Need extra tuition ?
Thank you very much , Nerd. -
It's no problem at all.
1) I refer to all levels. In Upper Secondary, the frequency of class tests is doubled.
2) Mostly, yes. Some teachers provide extra exercises for the weaker students, and post the answers to these worksheets on the school portal for their own reference.
3) Yes. It is easy to contact the teacher to book consultations, as each student will have her own school email account and so do all teachers in Crescent. All the student has to do is to email her teacher to book a consultation. There are also a couple of telephones located at various areas in the school compound whereby each teaching staff has his/her own number. There is a sheet of these numbers pasted right next to these telephones; students are able to call their teachers if the teachers do not respond to their emails (which is a rare occurrence).
4) I find that tuition is not necessary, but many of my friends in Crescent enroll in various tuition classes due to their parents' demand for them to do so. I believe that as long as a student has sufficient self-discipline, she will not need tuition. This means that when the need for knowledge on a particular topic or subject arises, she will immediately contact her teachers, and not leave her inquiries to the last minute before an examination. To answer your question directly, I have never had a teacher who has done that to me. -
Very helpful of u, Nerd.
May I know regards to thè spot checks in the morning assembly, how often?
Can give chance one if being book by teachers?
Thank you! -
Spot checks are usually conducted once a week, on Mondays. Yes, two chances will be given I think, before a demerit is issued.
Sure! -

St. Nics is a SAP school & Cedar will have IP cohort alongside O-level cohort , so if you wish to do O-level & want to study in \"Girls-Only\" school, Cresent isHi My DD got in to Crescent. she scored 248
Heard from her friend that scored 243, but could not get in ...
Come to think about it, the girls that scored between 244-248 do not really have many choices other than Crescent. As both Cedar & St Nics are 249 up.
\"The school\".
Then there is 'West' factor... Not much choice in western part of SG
Many students above 250 entroll every year, that' why Steller O-level results -

I always hear praises for Crescent Girls' thought my child isn't in this school.
MOE web site listed the numerous Awards sch has achieved.
Putting aside these awards which MOE is scrapping, it is going the correct direction for sure.
Academics status is on par with St Nicks and Cedar. -
Hi,my dd is studying sec 1 this year in this school.I realised her uniform’s material is quite thin.May I know what are the ways to solve this problem?
