I told hubby that when daughter grows up, I want her to be strong and know what kind of man she is going to marry. Please open 2 eyes and observe.

That's what my Daddy told me when I met DH.
He said:\"Keep your eyes open and your legs closed\".

Another smart and witty pappy!!

If mine here stops her irritating tag line, 你听我说, maybe I might cool down...as if she is so smart. But to think that YOUR MIL is so silly to complain to your mum. I really want to laugh.

:rotflmao: That'a a good one!

Reminds me of my priest who joked at the pre-marriage camp. He said, \"To those who asked me earlier if you can sleep together at the camp, my answer would be yes. If you just SLEEP!\"

Damn funny...

Mine thinks nothing about putting my mum down..she is, or was quite full of herself..
My mum was furious but 'ren'.. Now when we look back we have a good laugh too.. 😛

Previously when my MIL complained to my mum, my mum always scolded me and said I was stubborn and the one in the wrong. This happened till I refused to give in anymore, and my mum really \"bo bian\" and stopped interfering. Later when my MIL started giving my mum headache when my mum looked after my DS, my mum then realised how wrong she was and started ignoring my MIL's complaint.

Not adding oil into fire here, but aftering reading all your misfortunes with the dreaded mils, I felt quite fortunate that all my mil expected of me was to bore her a grandson (which I succeeded, phew!). She even went as far as making an appt to a certain 'renowned' sinseh for me (w/o my consent) when I was childless after a few yrs of marriage.

Some female acquantances I knew are so full of themselves that I expect they will end up torturing their own dils in future 😛

Dearest Duriz... i solved our DD1's 1st birthday celebration by going away on

a short trip with hubs, my parents & brother. It was a memorable celebration
and we all had chill out time plus great food. We held a big celebration when
she was 2yrs old at a big bungalow. By this age she's big enuf to play and
mingle with others and we sure had a great time. When it comes to making
decisions for our children, i believe WE as parents have the right to make
them. While i do not mind some positive point outs and constructive and
encouraging parental tips, i certainly do not appreciate obvious intrusions on
how to raise mine.

You had your chance, and now is mine.

I'm very happy that your husband is understanding and reasonable, plus the
fact that prior plans have already been discussed between you both just makes
it easier to execute. I agree with autumn, tree nypmh and schweppes. If reali
there is a strong resistance to a big parteh of your choice, then it would be so
much fun to do it on another day albeit not on official birthday cos that means
you can invite anybody you like and plan it as you deem fit. Funny huh? Our
children's birthday party also wanna a hand in it... 😐 Oh, wait a minute... we
do have ILs insisting on our children's names, don't we?
my MIL wanted a name that sounds Bright and Shiny which is GOOD is her opinion..

she suggested 亮晶 or did she mean 亮金??

me, DH, DH's sister all go HUH???

piangz :faint:

What 亮晶晶 ah ? My SIL is not Cantonese, and she approached a feng shui master to choose her daughter's name. I have her to thank for, in not agreeing to the obiang traditional middle names.
yes lor, somehow i think and feel she doesn't like my daughter leh.. which granny will give such an orbiang name??

den why she doesn't name my SIL 亮晶 leh??

not to mention, we gave her the right to choose what she wanna be referred to and she fickle minded between Ah Mah to Nai Nai to Ah Po.. so we gave up.. since nanny is Ah Mah, she shall be Nai Nai..

but she is in denial.. in the same span of half an hour she can go 'let Ah Mah xxx' later 'Po Po no good hoh xx xx' to 'ask mummy bring u come see Nai Nai more often'..
