Foreign Workers

I guess I'll better stop the exchange..
For PMETs role, they do require a fair amount of travelling nowadays which does not sit well with locals, family life , kids etc.
Personally, I can accept working in offshore, or travel frequently.. as long as the pay is good. However, I have not come across such good employment opportunities.. In a few cases, I even explicitly state in the resume that I'm willing to travel at short notice, can do shift work etc.. but still did not get much offers.
I cannot relate to your examples of well paying jobs but no local takers.
It's meaningless to go on further.. -

like I said earlier, this is not a managerial post, non-grad requirement
Too little details to make a fair judgement. Are you looking for $6k/mth grade employees but only willing to pay $4k/mth that's why all those who is willing to accept $4k/mth got rejected?verykiasu2010:
many this kind of examples lah -

ok… a little of my personal experience…
I went thru a retrenchment exercise before, and was jobless for a few months. I sent out resumes to companies in woodlands, Jurong etc… Based on the requirements stated in the Ad, I should be qualified enough for the positions which I applied.
I stated that I can do shift work and travel at short notice.
Out of these 2 applications, none invited me for an interview. What does this means?
Apparently, the companies have no lack of applications right? If so, then why I always hear companies complaining that they cannot get local workers? doesn’t makes sense right?
And, I did NOT put down expected salary in the resume, so this is definite not a factor. -

like you mentioned, it is too little details and at the same time, no one has the exact statistics on what are the actual happenings in the Corporate World except grievances \"statistics\".

To add, companies have been here for some time too, do you reckon that maybe they are also \"tired\" of going through recruitments where Locals are always stating a reason or excuse of not wanting the role hence the MNCs prefer to recruit FT instead for PMET?[/quote]I was in Jurong for more than 10 years, Singaporean MNC, global operation of more than 15,000 workers, 8 countries. I ran the finance dept, I was willing to pay up to S$15k per month plus housing plus car to place an FC in China - no taker from Singaporeans - after 6 months, got a Malaysian for the same position for half the price, need only housing don't need car on location. Recruiting for finance managers in Singapore operations - $6k to $8k, stock options, car allowances, 5 day week, corporate benefits like holiday villa (company owned), family medical insurance, dental etc etc -- no takers because we are in Jurong. Malaysians came and took the job, $4k only...but we also give the same benefits because corporate policy is all singapore-based employees have same benefits -- no discrimination
may be our HR and placement agents were all useless .... but they show me all the application letters : 1 to 10, citizen vs foreigners -

not to agitate you :please: but a few things
- Resume , know for a fact over-sell is also a over kill
- Presentation Skills and Chemistry , seriously I have seen FT, they do excel in this areas (whether they are actually awesome on Job is a different thing), the main thing is to cross the interview hurdle no? -

I'm just puzzled why these companies in Jurong/Woodlands never call me.. Aren't they facing shortage of workers?
And, got to agree with you, most FTs are really good at selling themselves..
Whether they're good on the job is different story.. -
