Raffles Girls' Primary

sweetbaby:
Do the school disclose how many of its graduates entered Raffles girls secondary through DSA and Sec1 posting?
In 2012 before DSA we had a briefing, yes a list of band A, B schools were shown and the no. of girls that entered certain secondary schools were indicated.
Dont think much will be released this year as MOE does not encourage banding of schools. -
KSP:
starting this SA1, the sch will not state level/class highest/avg on exam paper.... the P told every student - u only compete with yourself not anyone else.....
The new rule started already...my DD brought back her topic test paper, all information removed except her own marks... -

same here, T told the class if can get 60-70% you are ok...... the papers are really tough..... got ppl failed in the class.... -
Which p5 paper are u refering - get 60 to 70 marks ok?
Maths or science? -
when dd in P1/2, i can never imagine what P5 is like… now i know… anyway not to worry too much just let your dd enjoy for now… u will know when the time comes and do some self-adjustment… if the child is gifted or exceptionally smart then it will be smooth sailing but for majority it would be a wake-up call…

My girl told me that today they have their seats re-arranged for the ICAS Science test tomorrow, and also for the upcoming SA1.
And the teachers also told them that the upcoming SA1 will be very tough!!!!! And she is only in P4 :?:
I can't imagine next year, another major jump!! :imdrowning: -
Yup DD told me the same thing. Her Math teacher told them that the SA1 paper is very tough.
Just went into semi panic mode yesterday when DD brought back a science topical review with a score of 4.5/9. According to her, there are quite a few who got 2 or 3 only. Emailed her Science teacher to ask if I should start panicking. -

P5 exams are somewhat tough, same last year, there were ppl who failed maths and science. If my memory serve me right I think the top maths student did not even get 90 marks, think somewhere in the 80 range. Yes this is a wake up call for many parents n students. SA2 was also tough but by then most students improved.
At P6 most of the students found SA1 easier than in P5, so not to worry, leave it to the school, they know what their doing and its all for the best of every child.

Oops, looks like I should check her file. Have been quite hands-off since beginning of this year.... :scared:Yup DD told me the same thing. Her Math teacher told them that the SA1 paper is very tough.

Also keep on reminding myself that it's less than 2 weeks to SA1, don't want to press the panic mode too much in case blackout..... -
I, too strongly agree the school should let us know the average scores of each test/exam paper. At least we know where our child stand.
Let’s write to the school.
