angela:Has she been given a lot of carrots or orange/yellow colored vege or fruits over the past couple of weeks? This could cause the yellow tinge in her skin. Give orange/yellow colored vege/fruits only 2 to 3 times a week and not too much.Another thing, we realised that her hand palm and leg turn yellowish. Dunno what is happening? Can anyone know and advise?

RE: All About Puberty
Yes, it's always best to rely on natural remedies instead of drugs.
If all else fails, try to distract yourself from the pain, eg read a good book, listen to music & relax over a nice cup of chamomile *bliss* , cook/bake, start a project (I recently made pillows for all 3 of my kids), chat on KSP forum ....

RE: All About Puberty
Was it a blue & white capsule? Then it could be ponstan. I used to take that for tension headaches cos panadol does nothing for me. Can’t anymore though, cos not safe for breastfeeding…

RE: All About Full-Time Maids
allseasons:
I feel for you, allseasons.Just want to add story about maids.
Last month our family came back from holiday and found out that our maid (now ex-maid) was prostituting herself in our apt when we were away. This was not the first time we left her alone in our apt. She already with us for many years, and we trusted her - treated her like our own family.
.......
After sending her back home, when I showered my eldest son ( 5 y.o)he told me all the ill treatment he got when my maid took care of him and his younger brother.
I treated my ex-maid very kindly too. I told my eldest child, \"auntie is mommy's friend. She's here to help me look after all of you\" (so that she won't treat her like a servant). We even helped her with the housework (like ironing when the laundry piled up, mopping the floor, change bed sheets), so she is not overworked as she looked after my baby.
Like you, I also only came to know of the \"wonderful\" things she has been doing behind my back only after I sent her back.
I thought that if we treated her well, she would reciprocrate and will treat us in kind. I told my hubby when we first decided on hiring her that we, as employers, get to choose who we employ. But the maids don't get a choice whom they want to work for.
She wasn't grateful at all.
Now, we still treat our current maid well, but the relationship is more business like. And I'm always on my guard, as the saying goes \"never be with a heart to harm others, never be without a heart to guard against others\" -
RE: All About Health Insurance
jedamum:
Underwriting for medical plans is the most stringent among all insurance coverage. Reason being claims can be made as long as one is hospitalised or require long term medical treatment (which are usually also costly).
how to get health insurance plan for our parents? i thought insurance coy are not keen on older people due to the increased health risk?tanzyjac:
Luckily for us, my bro took up additional health insurance plan for my mum
If the parents already had history of high blood etc, wouldn't it be near impossible to get any of such now?
The max entry age for most medical plans are between 60 to 70 years of age.
For people with existing medical conditions, exclusions are usually imposed on related conditions. For example, for someone with hypertension, conditions relating to diabetes, stroke, heart disease, kidney failure will be excluded.
That said, if one develops hypertension after taking up a medical plan, is he/she covered for the above conditions?
Answer is \"Yes\" if your medical plan has a \"Guaranteed Renewal\" clause and \"No\" if it does not. -
RE: Schedule / Routine for 9 1/2 mths old baby
icyclaw:
Yes, keep at it. Repetition does the trick. Try to \"forestall\" her wakings. For example, if she usually wakes about 40 mins after you put her down for her nap, go to her 5 - 10 mins before that time and pat/soothe her. This is so that she wldn't wake up completely and wld be soothed before her usual wakings. Hopefully this should help her nap longer.
wanted to stop the carry to sleep method. so far in the afternoon, maid managed to put her in cot and she can sleep on her own once. usually need patting and/ or singing.icyclaw:
Does she sleep on her side or on her back? At 9mths plus, her arms are strong enough to push herself chest up, so you can safely put her on her side to sleep, and have her hug a bolster. Then put some pillows snugly against her back. The idea is to make her comfortable so she can stay asleep longer. Make sure the pillows are not heavy ones though.my baby sleep halfway, suddenly wake up will while closing her eyes, get into crawling position and start crawling ard.. sleep positioners can help?
When she crawls around and changes position, stuff the pillows around her again. But do it gently so you don't wake her in the process. -
RE: All About Full-Time Maids
Hi mummyjoyce,
Tamarind has a very good blog on managing maids. I've learnt a lot from it. Here's the link.
http://singaporemaid.blogspot.com/2007/07/how-to-manage-maid.html
I've also learned from my mistakes and changed certain aspects of how I manage my new maid (now almost 1 year with us, so far so good).
Good luck with your new maid!

Blood Type (Group)
You can go to one of the approved MOH accredited labs (found on http://www.moh.gov.sg) for blood group testing.
Some GPs would also be able to collect your blood sample and send it to a lab to get it tested.
