There are other TOP schools. Why do you only consider to DSA to RI? Do you know the theory of Nash?

Even as you enter RI, there are still differences between GEP classes and Non-GEP classes? When will your MS kids feel being same with GEppers?

leooel, I remember your DS also applied for RI DSA last year.

My son is in non GEP class in RI. The class size, teachers and papers are the same as in GEP class. He doesn't feel any different from GEPpers there as there are GEPpers whose GPA is lower than his. It is a confidence boost and now he knows that it is only a myth that GEPpers are all better than mainstreamers.

So  U R! Why does she divide kids into GEP classes and Non-GEP
classes? The GEP classes should have more activities due to the financial support from MOE?
I always think it is myth of GEP chosed in Primary 3. But someones try to enhance such myth.

During ds time, ri extended special invitation to the top ten boys of his ms school to attend a special customised open house. There the boys were shown how good the school is and encouraged to apply dsa. And so that was what got ds wanting to dsa ri even though his success rate was almost nil.

      Zeemimi

This is exactly wat got my ds interested in RI. Together with 9 other boys, they were shown how good the school is. Lol. :rotflmao:

So clever RI is! šŸ˜‚

Cherryland, sorry to hear that. I'm sure your DS will work harder for his PSLE and prove his worth to enter his dream school. All the Best to him!

      Dear Pen88n,

Last year, <100 kids entered the Round 2, including about 60 kids by mathmatic. The problems in round 2 are difficult as RIWCPS(?).

Do you have the number that passed the Round 2?
I did not hear anyone in maths last year. Maybe this year some kids will be lucky.

Is the half day test(mathematics) going to be difficult?(RI)

The round 2 will be very difficult, like RI worldcup. Good Luck!

Sorry guys, for a while I thought this thread was dedicated to RI-DSA. Wld love to hear about other schools like CHS, SNGS, Cedar, SCGS, NJC, TJC etc.........

šŸ˜‚ These schools have less DSAers. It is somehow easier to enter them via PSLE. But only less places left in Top schools after DSA.
But more than 50% places in TOP schools are given via DSA. It is too late if you pay attention to PSLE.

Are you sure that it's so high? I think that most of the schools state that they will not exceed 50%, and in practice, it may be less.

Yes, the dsa placement is capped at 50% but most schools give out fewer co than that. A few p have indicated their take-ins at their open houses - the figures are mostly below 50.
Sometimes, I think there are only 4 or 5 TOP academic schools. Their total DSA figure is ~50% or less more. It is a rather big number. For boys, less places (<50%) are left in RI, HCI, and NUSH. (Total places: ~1070; DSA:~600)

I had missed the easist route, so I must try this easier one and you should not give ~0% hope.

      Is it wrong? šŸ˜‚

this thread is getting heated up liao ...

end of the day , those that can get in , congrats and good luck , those who can't , so be it ,(the system is flawed anyway) - try harder in PSLE , not end of the world yet , kids should learn what is success and failure , learn from it and stand up taller ...
Maybe this year RI give more COs to the MSers after such argument? šŸ˜„

Is this So ? Then why didn't you try to get into this route ?
We missed it. No problem, we try the \"easier\" route to the Top schools.
If we failed, we have to take the most difficult one.
