layperson:

the website state: NUS High School\tFreshmen with excellent results may be granted selective course exemptions.

There is similar exemptions for A levels and IB too.

Of course I think it is common sense that there's issue of relevancy, if say a student didn't take Chemistry in the specialisation years and somehow decide to apply for Chemical Engineering...

I am not incline to comment which school is better.
Some students jumped to the advanced olympic math courses using this rule. Nobody dare to give up Chemistry.

Btw, besides recognized by NUS -
- is NUS High Diploma recognized by NTU, to enter Engineering faculty ?

- with NUS High Diploma, can straight away get enrolled direct automatic admission into Year 1, or into Year 2 Engineering faculty ?

For students who are interested in future careers related to Maths / Science, if the child been offered both CO by RI and NUS High, which would you choose, and why ?

šŸ˜‰ ,Why do you ask for the exemptions of important courses? No parents hope to do such stupid things. it is just a choice. šŸ˜‚

šŸ˜‚ , In NUSH, there is no any difference between GEPpers and MSers. The chances are equal to everyone, I know a MSer boy is the 1st in math in his class.
This year, 13 NUSHers enter the TOP30 of SMO Junior, and 11 from RI, 2 from RGS, 2 from HCI, and 2 from pri.

Hi leooel,
just kaypoh...but who may this MSer boy be. I am curious :scratchhead: Are you referring to other levels or past students?

Lim jeck, a MSer, must be the 1st in math. You can find it is nomal in the 6 classes/year.

NUSH is a little and new school. Its total studants is less than 1000. The school must be anxious to improve its reputation by students' achievements in Maths/Science.

Aug 20 is a school holiday for NUSH due to its past students achievements. It lets me think a scene occurred in <Harry Potter>: the principal announced deleting the final exams after a great victory. šŸ˜‚
Any idea, for VJ, how many slots do they allocate for GEP in DSA ?

šŸ˜‚ . Relax lah. Almost all GEPpers go to RI, NUSH, or HCI, so all slots of VC are allocted for MSers.

Totally not true. I have friends whose kids were geppers fr st Hilda's and Tao nan in VS now. Distance and an English environment were determining factors.
What? I think for VS and some other schools, there are no difference between the GEPpers and MSers. The top GEPpers all go to RI, NUSH, and HCI, etc. Therefore, these schools would not give more COs to GEPpers. A few GEP boys possibly enter them by their PSLE scores.

Is the above numbers based on facts? And where does girls go to?

COs prepared for GEPpers:

RGS: ~150 (COs)
NYGS: ~130 (COs)
NUSH: ~ 20 (COs)
-------------------------
Total: ~ 300 (COs)

Actually, there only are ~ 230 GEP girls. šŸ˜‚

What make you think that gep students dont go to other schools?
šŸ˜‰ ,there are ~330 GEPpers. They will go to these schools:

RI: ~170
HCI: ~50
NUSH: ~60
ACS: ~20
DHS+others: ~30
--------------------------------------
Total: ~330

GEP. It state admitted to Raffles Program (GEP), so RGS separate the GEPper and the MS?
