Hi,678Yess,

Did yr DD apply to other schools besides RGS?

We tried nygh as well. two schools were enough to keep us very busy last year.

May I check \"enough to keep us busy\" - other than GAT and interviews, what else is necessary?
Busy waiting, busy making phone calls, busy checking out from KSP....etc...lol

dd and i went through last year....NO REGRET going through all these...totally stress-free after getting the CO.....

      Hi,

Would like to seek advice from parents here.If my child took a competition twice,1st time silver,2nd year Gold.Does he need to submit the first year one (Silver)?

I told him not to,as it might be confusing as the school has to sort out entries from many other students. Hope I am not giving him the wrong advice. :?:
you need to list down the best 5 results for P5/6....

      Jennifer:
Before yesterday, I asked elder boy whether he will be calling home everyday.

      Answer - no

      Reason -
      1. need to conserve phone battery power since cannot charge, no spare battery (cos the xiaomi model battery cannot take out) and no strong powerbank.
      2. no news is good news

Now is 10.15pm, my mobile phone no text msg no missed call, house phone also not ringing.

Strangely, I am not feeling anxious.

Felt like he is only away at school boarding or on school overseas trip.

Sister, relax! He is from Ah Boy To Man stage... he can take care of himself and get used to arm y life very fast....
Dear parents,

It also depends on whether your DS is taking HCL?
If not, he may be placed in class 1 which I am guessing is the best of non-HCL pupils.

For P4, all taking HCL....4T1 should be MA class....For transferred students, unlikely to be placed in top 2 classes in their first year....Each year, probably there are more than 100 students clearing GEP round 1 in PH.

So work hard during P4 and move on to top 2 class during P5/6....

      Dear Dyh and php,

Thanks for your reply. Yes, I understood the priority should be kept for the existing students for the top classes. I agree that he still has chance to move on to top 2 class during P5/6. I just worried he is assigned to the worst class as I heard that the teachers spent quite a lot time to discipline the kids in those classes and they even don't have enough time to teach the curriculum in detail.

By the way, may I know what MA class stands for?
      Thanks.
4T1 is not the worst class.... there is top class but no worst class....the remaining students excluding those in top classes will be spread out to the other classes.... meaning in each class, there will be above average, average and below average students.... MA stands for Mixed Ability...provided there is no change to the way the school allocates the classes....

With every change, I guess the first batch will always be the most affected.

However, even if directives from MOE on the COP were made known earlier, would those who had planned to appeal give up totally for this first year this is implemented? Honestly, I would still try ..... So directive out earlier or not would make no difference cos I'll still try. But it would definitely set the expectation that it could likely be unsuccessful. Hope for the best, expect the worst. Gotta move on.

I remembered the year when MOE gave the directive that DSA once accepted must be honored, but people still proceed to appeal. I know of people who tried all means via connections/network/& even approach MP etc to beat the directive but was not successful still. That year I believe all had to honor their DSA commitment.
Subsequent years, people stopped having the mentality to 'accept first, appeal to transfer later'.
So probably next year those who din meet the COP will be aware and won't bother to go thru the appeal process anymore. But I'm sure there will still be some who will still try 😉

Sensing MOE is inching toward Every school is a GOOD school! maybe in future, students and parents would not know the exact score they get but just, A, B, C grading, etc ..... and secondary school posting is by allocation by MOE and students/parents need not select or make choices. And official secondary schools ranking is only known to MOE.

MOE announced many years back that T-score would be removed but I waited till neck long long liao but still no news from MOE.....my dd is going S1 next year...

      Dear parents,

My DS just transferred to PeiHwa Primary December this year, he will be in P4 next year(2016). Only until now, we got information that he is assigned to class 1. May I know some information that when you received the notification of the class assignment if your DS/DD also transferred to PeiHwa at end of this year? and what is your class assignment? Heard that class 1 is the lowest level class. Not sure this is true? My DS passed the GEP 1st around and also within top 10 in his current school, so I believe his academic result shouldn't be that bad. Not sure the policy of PeiHwa to assign new transferred student. Hope to get some information from you. Thanks.

Is it possible to rename the sch again by giving a few names for these three sch students to vote? I feel that we should trust and respecting them to choose the name for themselves.

Ya lor, why not just give it a simple name that makes the kids sound smart too. Like Raffles or Hwa Chong, so easy to pronounce, also very 威风 you know

      :rotflmao:

I checked your profile - student.

use iPad for TCC rather than laptop?

I am asking about laptop for their other works, such as
      writing reports, presentations, etc.

So do I need to get a laptop for my girl for her Yr1?

Based on my DD experience, the girls do need to use the laptop for some of their school work but generally they are not required to bring it to school.
Thanks guest2013....
