      thanks for the replies

for Third Language options any idea if child usually gets it? or they go by psle score to offer eventually?
my boy chose German and we are wondering what are the chances of him getting it.
And for Language classes, is transport provided or kids go there themselves?
You are given the option to sign up for one way transport. Otherwise you have to make your way to the MOELC. lessons ended like 6pm or 6.30pm at Bishan for DHS German class. If your eligibility letter includes the option to sign up for 3rd foreign language, you will get it if the number of applications doesn’t exceed the vacancies. If it exceeds, they will use psle score. I think chances of getting german is very high.

I remb this year there was an announcement on guangyang sec merging with another school in amk. You may want to check it up, cos it may move.

Guangyang Primary School is merging with Townsville Primary School.

Guangyang Secondary is not merging with another secondary school in the near future because it has merged with Braddell-Westlake Secondary School in 2006.

There are some new BTOs being built in Bishan near the train station too so I foresee there is demand for Guangyang Sec in the future.[/quote]Thank you for correcting my post!

Most classes are at moelc Newton. Where is your girl’s school?

Not true. There r many classes at MOELC Bishan as well. Depends on the child’s school and language taken.

Some schools make 1 way bus arrangement to transport students from school to MOELC but students have to make their way home on their own.

      Hi mummies,

My DS scored AL7 (M), HCI as first choice, follows by NJC, Victoria IP, Cath High.
My question here, is it too risky to put hci and njc as first and second choices here ? Since their cop range 4-7?
Given that this cohort has many elite kids according to the distribution poll. Please enlighten me ! TIA
My personal view is, you can try HCI if that’s your DS’s dream school. You just need to make sure your 2nd or 3rd choice is your safety net. You might want to consider Dunman High in one of the choices since your DS has HCL.

Speed isn’t a difficult topic, however it requires your child to “see it” by being visual. Try to draw it out, timeline/distance, to visualize it. More practice helps.

Yes the weightage on “speed” seem to have decreased in recent years. For short qn or mcq, the question isn’t complicated. It’s a necessary skill to grasp.
I see, thanks to all for sharing your views.

I just realized that Speed is a very major (and extremely tricky) topic for Standard Math. :nailbite:
Hi, wish to know how is speed a major topic for standard math? I only knew it’s tough didn’t see it carrying heavy weight (in terms of marks) in pre-covid papers. Thanks

Any idea about fee structures of IP schools? Is there any list somewhere?

There are different types of IP schools, some are government-funded, some fully independent. For the latter group, it can range between $300 and $600 per month. For government-funded like NJC, school fee is around $33

      https://www.moe.gov.sg/financial-matters/fees

The link is good to gauge maximum fees for non-independent schools. Diff slightly between schools because of 2nd tier fees charged by school. For independent schools, it is better to check their websites because fees are listed on there.

Hi parents, I saw from the website that Dunman offers IP as well. We will be choosing secondary school this month, and my DS is keen in IP route. However for DHS, the S1 posting selection only for O level. How does the IP route work? Only for those thru DSA? Or school will offer much later in their school years?
Thanks in advance for your reply.
      Hi,
      For sec 1 posting.
Dunman High School - offers IP only
Dunman Secondary - offers O level

      Hi,

Does anyone know what are the changes to 2021 P1 Math syllabus? I understand some schools are using this new Primary Mathematics textbook from Star Publishing but I can't seem to locate it online.
I saw this comparison in Popular’s Popclub magazine.
