      tinasen:
      Samy had 4 times money that of Mary at first. After Samy gave $45 to Mary, both of them had equal amount of money. How much did Mary have at first? Please help to solve this by model method. I tried to understand the answer key that was given to my son, but not very sure how 3u is equated to 45.

      S [___][___][___][___]
      M [___]

      to make the units into whole numbers (so tt S can give to M):

      S [__][__][__][__][__][__][__][__]
      M [__][__] .................[-----45----]

      S must give M 3u for them to have equal amount of money.

      3u -> $45
      1u -> $15
      2u -> $30

            Hi elkniwt

            I am glad you liked it.

            I use Microsoft PowerPoint 2007 to do the solutions.

            Best wishes

              Hi Tianzhu, where exactly do you get the images?? Most of the time they are exactly relating to the question 🙂 🙂
