How do you store your kids photos?

In my computer.


Just to be safe, also in an external hard disk.

Just to be safer, in another external hard disk.

Just to be very very safe, burnt onto DVDs.

Next step would be to consider off-site storage but I have not reached that level of paranoia yet.

I have pics of me & my sis… in…

- my computer
- my thumb drive
- my parents’ thumb drives
- some on Facebook
- some on cd
- some on a floppy disk (old ones. dunno how i’m gonna recover them though)
- videos on dvd.

kids photos are valuable and it is only right for us to capture their moments at different stage of their life e.g. Their 1st walk, their 1st day in childcare, their 1st day in primary school…



Before 2002, i used to use films and developed into 4R and put in album…later face similar issues w tonnes of diff album… Then come the digital edge! Everything can be stored in hard disk… I move over since then, and organise my photos based on yrs… Since 2002 till now, every yr, one
directory… And with backup… If i encountered any failure, i still got separate backup… It will only be god’s will if my primary and backups failed at the same time!


Now the cons about this… My mom had been complaining abt lack of photos of her grandsons… I bought her a digital photo album and she rejected it… Waste of electrical energy… Now owe her hundreds, if not thousands, of backlog… I understand it is good to have real photo develope, can touch and feel, than digital display…but if space is a constraint, u don’t have much of a choice de.

That’s the problem… The space saving way of storing them digitally is that there’re no physical photos to view.

Any idea of useful photo managing apps on iPad?

I better start making a backup of my DD pics.

I store on iPad, anytime can view.


Backup in HDD.

The default photo album that comes with iPad is good enough.

Can even function as digital photo frame.

used to save photos in folders, by month/year in HDD + burn in DVD..


later paranoid the whole lot crash / gone (as i did not develop a single photo since birth) so spent $500 to develop photos of my gal since birth till 2008..

now in the process of cherry picking 2009 photos to develop..

when i'm done with cherry picking and developing the 2010 photos, i will develop bit by bit going forward to avoid humongous developing bill..

Another option is select those good ones, make into clips with software like imovie, premiere pro, element … It can be stored in dvd or hdd to play on TV. I have done so for dd by events she participate. Still have a lot to do for her for since baby till now

I have all sorted in External HD, by dates and events
The new ones I put in Digital Photo Frame
I choose good ones from time to time and print it into album, so u could see them like reading magazine. Usually I make this kind of album every 3 months Cost my time for editing and $ to print. But we could keep smiling every time we see thru the albums

Where did u print the photo-albums? I tried 1 Malaysian printer, price is reasonable but quality of the printed photos are not very good. I’ve also tried another local printer, quality is good but it’s pricey. And yes, it takes a lot of time and effort in doing up the layouts
