2011 PSLE Results Day 24 Nov

DH says he may not be able to take leave on 24/11 (i really don't understand what can be more important than DS getting his PSLE results :rant: ), so i will be going with DS to collect his PSLE results. Will bring DS2 along as he wants to give gor-gor his support (actually he seems more excited than his gor-gor ). Good to let DS2 experience the 'PSLE atmosphere' (joy, laughter, tears, sorrow etc), hopefully can make him 'wake up' and be more serious in his studies.. :slapshead:

I would think both parents should be there preferably, to support and be with the kids, regardless of results outcome. It’s an important day and milestone, first important national examination and only once in their lifetime, for their PSLE kids. It’s the presence that the kids will care and will most slightly remember like some of you have experienced and remembered, who were there or not there.


Though my DS has expressed that he will not wish my presence,as he may feel pressurized. I will respect him views and wishes. Most slightly will stand outside school (being a gan cheongsam dad) till he comes out with his results.

I was the top PSLE girl in my primary school day and I remembered walking to school alone to collect my results. I am now considering whether to let my DD go alone LOL…

have the same thinking, will by bring my DS2 & DD there to make them experience it and hope they'll be more serious in their studies.

During my time, I do not recall parents accompany their kids to go and collect result. Kids these days are more fortunate. If my DS is collecting his result, I would want to be there too, for support as well as to know the 1st hand news of his result for he would never bother to call and tell me.

All of us include my ds1 will there on Thursday. I think it is very important for parents to be there. Good or bad result, the child will still need the moral support from their dad and mum. About 50 hours more to go.

I totally share the same sediment with firefly38. My DH too, said that he is not able to take leave.

I don't understand why not? I've applied leave way ahead even before PSLE exam ended and told him to do so as well. But last night, he said he cannot take leave... so upset.

Anyway, I definitely want to be there to share the moment with DS. See ya.

Shall I go or Shall I not? I asked my girl last night.


She said, "mum, you can take leave but do not accompany with me".

Why?, I asked her.

1. She does not bear to see my pale and nervous face.
2. She does not want to see me " I am jumping and screaming if she gets our expectations".

So, how do you think?

From my experiences, my nephews and nieces do not allow their parents or any adult to accompany them to collect the results. However they don’t mind their siblings / cousines to tag along !!


They rather choose to talk to their classmates, compare results, discussing which schools to go, go where to celebrate, etc

They would rather not having their parents around to "scold" them for not performing as expected.

I think it is good for parents to discuss with the children whether they want you to go or not. Some kids would love to, but some may not want.
