Q) Ali used some rectangular and square tiles to make a wall design. The rectangular tiles were sold at 3 for $12 and the square tiles were sold at 2 for $6. If he spend $546 on an equal number of rectangulars and square tiles, how many rectangular Nd square tiles dis he use altogether?
We need an equal number of rectangular and square tiles.
A common multiple of 2 and 3 is 6
Consider 1 group of 3 rectangular tiles
2 groups ------- 6 rectangular tiles --------$24
Consider 1 group of 2 square tiles
3 groups ------- 6 square tiles --------$18
A set of 6 rectangular tiles and 6 square tiles -------$42
546/42 ------- 13
There are 13 sets.
Hence 13*6*2 ------- 156

Hi
alamak!! sorry sorry very sorry.
No worries, let’s move on to do the revised question.
There are a few ways to go about doing this question.
It’s useful if students are able to see that the number of children in the library stays the same before and after.
Make the total number of units the same in both scenarios.
At first (at 2 pm)
Girls : Boys ------ 5:4 (9) ------ 35:28 (63)
Change
Girls : Boys ------ -40:+40
In the end (after 2pm)
Girls : Boys ------ 3:4 (7) ------ 27:36 (63)
8 units ------ 40
1 unit ------ 5
Number of girls @ first ------ 35*5 ------ 175
36 – 27 ------ 9
9*5 ------- 45
There are 45 more boys than girls after 2 pm.

Hi, pls advise.
Jenny bought some strawberries and wanted to put them into boxes. If she put 4 strawberries into each box, there will be 3 strawberries left. If she put 6 strawberries into each box, there will be 5 strawberries left.
(a) if the nos. of strawberries is btw 100 - 150, how many strawberries did Jenny buy?
(b) if Jenny decided to put all strawberries equally into 16 bags, what is the minimum nos. of bag she would need?
Thank you. -
