Hi mummies, I will be moving to Sengkang next year as well. Saw quite a few mummies with 2007 kiddos? Which primary schools did you manage to get them into? ^^ I have a 2010 DS and 2012 DD 🆒

Chloecube, that’s great to hear! I have 1 boy 1 girl so a co-ed school is easier…there are actually quite a few schools near my place in Sengkang but all are relatively new and there isn’t any way to tell how the schools will fare academically, and looking at their balloting histories, I think I will have to PV in order to secure a place else risk balloting in phase 2C which I cannot tahan. Have considered some boys’ schools in Hougang, Serangoon etc but the ‘bullying’ and the likelihood to be balloted out for SC >2km discourages me very much.

Wonder if any parents here can share how NAPS fared for PSLE in the recent years? I am more interested in the percentage of the cohort scoring more than 250 rather than the top score…thank you thank you!

GG to P1, i'm sure stay within 1km doesn't mean automatic inclusion under phase 2B.

You can read this link: http://www.moe.gov.sg/education/admissions/primary-one-registration/phases/

My new place is at Sengkang too and am reviewing the primary schools here as well. But I am closer to Sengkang Green, Fernvale Pri, Anchor Green and Nan Chiau...as well as Springdale.

I think Sengkang Primary School is not bad, from what I've heard..an up and coming primary school haha. If you wish to know more about specific primary schools, you should visit the Networking group, where parents who have kids going to the same primary school gather under 1 thread for feedback & info. You just need to search for it....My parents are within 1km of Nan Chiau too. But it is unlikely I will go for Nan Chiau as I cannot tahan the stress of balloting :rotflmao:

GG to P1, oh I see…but I think in order to qualify under 2B, it’s not about whether you are staying within 1km. One will qualify under phase 2B via the grassroots or PV route. Distance will only come into the picture should there be a balloting. Since you are too late for the PV, you are under phase 2C already. I read somewhere that next year onwards there will be more places allocated for phase 2B and 2C I think. I read and read everywhere but I cannot remember where I read this from…

GG to P1, I remember reading somewhere that for Nan Chiau, there was balloting even for SC within 1km under phase 2C. Something like 174 vying for 50 spots. Not sure how Nan Chiau picks their PVs but i’m you, I will apply to be a PV first. If they accept me then I will take the chance and do PV. Can get to the know the school better along the way…I heard that it is not easy to get selected as a PV.

Oooh Chloecube…Tampines to Marine Terrace is not that near either. The distance didn’t put you off?? I wouldn’t have a car by the time my boy enters primary 1, so am weighing the pros and cons. PV for the nearest primary school or go for NAPS! Have been reading this thread and boy, I didn’t know NAPS is getting popular.
