    • RE: Ingrown toenail

To prevent ingrown toenail, try to cut the nail across in a straight line instead of curved to the sides. Eventually the nail will no longer dig into the skin.

Not entirely true that to get 250 need at least 2 A* and 2As. My son is above 250 with one A*

    • RE: Recommendation for abortion

I agree with phtthp that there is other option … like adoption. I didn’t know I was pregnant until into my 9th week. When I first saw the ultrasound of my child at 9 wks, I can see him kicking his legs and moving his hand and his heartbeat is so strong. So, can you imagine what abortion is involved? Breaking apart the baby and take it out. If the parent think they cannot afford the baby, at least give it a chance to live and who knows, he/she will have a better life than what you can give him/her. Don’t live with regrets for the rest of your life knowing you ended a life.

You may want to check out this WebMD on link between chicken pox and shingles:

    • RE: chickenpox immunization or others??

I would advise you to give chicken pox jab to your kid. Haven’t got it doesn’t mean won’t get it at all. Reason is that chicken pox virus will cause shingles in later life if a person immune system is low.

    • RE: City Harvest's founder Kong Hee & 4 others arrested/charged

Obvious to me he is portraying himself to be blameless because he consulted auditor, accountant etc. In short, they are at fault, not him.

    • RE: Where to donate children's toys?

For toys and clothing in good condition, I usually bring them to St. Bernadette Church (diagonally opposite Great World City). I dropped them into a large bin located in front of its thrift shop on immediate right as you enter the church gate from Zion Road.

As for story books I called up Infant Jesus Centre (ijhcc) in Clementi to let them know the type of books I would like to give away. Some of the books I have given away are kids adventure books, story books and assessment books (not used, no scribbling). I also emailed them the title of the books for them to assess whether they are suitable for the the children. The organisation has residential care and out-of-school hours programme to support/cater to children from low-income families or challenging backgrounds.
You may want to consider these.

    • RE: Maid with Indecent Photos

Though there is no evidence that she is up to no good, but I also find that those pic are rather disturbing. I have a maid before whom I sent back because I accidentally came across (I clicked History on desktop) her social network page where her male on-line friend posed in his underwear and her picture taken in my house which could only be taken by someone whom she let in without my knowledge. In my opinion, if you are not comfortable having her in the house, it is better to let her go. I heard of a story about a maid in Malaysia having sex with the employer’s teenage son and passed VD to him. It is a scary thought. On the other hand, it is possible that your maid is just a narcissist and is not up to no good. You have to observe her and size her up. Btw, like ngl2010, I communicate with my maid and my husband steer clear of it. In this way, there is no unnecessary misunderstanding, no conflicting instructions and the maid know she should only approach you instead of your husband.

    • RE: St. Joseph's Institution

      newage:
Hi All Parents of Sec 1 who has sons who joined NCC Land,

Understood that there is a camp this Fri to Sat. Wonder if you were told to buy some of the stuffs (mess tin, tommy stove, etc) on our own or to buy from school NCC or they will provide? Any idea if they were told that they need to wear their No 4 uniform?

If so, need to quickly search for a store selling all of these.

      Thanks
      Hi Newage,
I don't know whether or not you need to buy those stuff for NCC (Land) camp. For scout's camp, the letter from Scout CCA comes with a form for you to specify whether you want to buy these items or not.
In case NCC land does not have this form and you need to buy it yourself, I think you can get it from the Scout Headquarter at Bishan.
