dun think they will put the vacancy ‘back’ to Phase 2B. It should go directly to Phase 2C.

Yippie! No balloting for 2B in Rosyth!!!

RE: All About Primary Schools' Balloting History
Allow me to add on to the reason for the decrease number in Phase 2B. In order not to subject PV to balloting during 2B, Rosyth is very prudent as to limit its PV numbers. If I am not wrong, Rosyth turned away close to hundred of PV applicants yearly so as to ensure PV’s effort are not wasted.
Put in the another way, if you have been selected as a PV in Rosyth, chances of your P1 registration is pretty high. -
RE: Any Good Suggestion For my Pri One Kid? SOS
How about engaging a friendly neighbour’s help (if you are living near to the BASC) to pick up your child in the event that you will be late?

RE: [Serangoon] Primary Schools
It was only when I was asked to attend a separate briefing somewhere in mid Jul (notified a week earlier) ,that I knew that I have been selected as a PV.

RE: [Serangoon] Primary Schools
hi,
Sorry for the late reply.
err… Dun have any tips on the interview lah. Mainly the school wants to know your commitment level, i.e. are you able to take leave weekly/fortnightly to render your service to the school…

How old is your child? Think Rosyth is taking PV for 2005 kids recently (or have they closed the application), check their website.
If I remember correctly, you need not attach any proposal in your PV apllication, they pick you randomly (that’s why I said it is very much dependent on Lady Luck!) for the interview. The interview is conducted by the Admin Manager.
You are right about the advantage of PV vs Grassroots as it allows you to know more about the school and the staff. -
RE: [Serangoon] Primary Schools
Will be registering my 2003 son for P1 at Rosyth this year. I have completed my PV hours with Rosyth. :rahrah:
From my observation, the school tried to shortlist the PV from diff groups - i.e. working parents/SAHParents, within 1km, 1-2km as well as >2km for interviews. No hard and fast rules, guess they tried to have an even distribution.
Read: This is solely based on my own observation.
They further shortlist successful PVs after interviews (machiam job interview like that, - stress!) to gauge your commitment level. Rosyth normally takes in PVs 2 years before P1 registration.
May I add, if you are sure that your Grassroots application is guaranteed, I would said go for the Grassroots' path. The PV selection is very very much luck dependent!

RE: Skip one level from N2 to K1?
Picolo:
Why not place him in a Montessori-based kindy whereby the kid's progresses based on individual advancement? That way, you may have the best of both world: socilaising with kids of the same age as well as learning at his own pace?Hello KSPs,
Understand there's many bright kids' parents and educators here. Need to pick your brain here: If you have a child at N2 level and slightly more advanced than other kids (as in ie. able to sound out the first 42 sounds, can do blending and read common sight words, able to read worksheet instructions and questions on his/her own, able to read Peter & Jane to say Book 6a without any help, enjoys numbers and can do dot-to-dot to more than 150, do simple mental sums and abacus, able to read simple Chinese reader books and recognition of Chinese characters, able to write numbers and not all letters yet), would you send him to a K1 class instead?
I see the pros of keeping the boy in N2 so that he can socialise with his peers and all of them can go to P1 together. To me, the 2.5-hr kindy class is like a babysitting service to the N2 kid now, as I need to free up some time to look after the older boys. But, if the N2 kid joins a K1 class, I believe he can learn more general knowledge and science in a school setup and whatever it is, at least he is learning new things. After his K2, he can always join another kindy's K2 class. What do you think?
You mentioned that he is still not able to write all letters yet, would he face problems with K1's writing requirment? Also, to repeat K2, isn't it worse - as in boring for him?
Just my opinion.
