Well said....however OTOT...I have seen parents who chose NJC over SNGS although the latter is just at the house's doorstep. The parent has no confidence in the new EJC.

The oldest JC vs the newest JC.

I might just do the same for my younger ones. This parent does have a point.

Its indeed EJC's honour to be compared with NJC, one of the Top 5 JCs in SG. Very few JCs can even come close to be compared with. NJC..

For one that chose NJ over EJ, I am sure there will be similarly be a corressponding one that chose EJ over NJ šŸ˜„

              Yes. A belated player.

Many SCGS pp living in Bt Timah tend to gravitate towards NJC too if they do not qualify for HCI or RI or dislike doing IB šŸ˜‰

Well, as mentioned, u have all kinds of pull n push factors....some parents are not alumni so allegiance is zilch or lukewarm, or graduated with poor results from their former schools and want nothing to do with it, or had studied at NJC so want dc to go there as well...

Then again, I hv friends who are die-hard supporters of their alma mater (these 3 I mean). They had encouraged their kids to stick to this IP school, enjoy the learning journey and build lifelong friendships with the 'same feathers', even though they had decisively qualified for RI straight after PSLE. The parents were former RJCians themselves!

It will take a few years for the results and ranking to stabilise. Hopefully the pioneers don't play too much after the JAE Orientation. Must be like stetan. No seniors to help but still passed with flying colours. šŸ˜† Actually during my time we didnt tap on seniors either!

Btw shouldn't discuss about EJ in NYJC thread. They are of a different league.

Before EJC even come into existence, for O level students from the 3 popular Secondary Full schools who did not make it to RI / Hwa Chong JC via Cut-off-point, National Junior College is often the next popular destination target they head for.

However, with EJC first batch of A level students due to graduate next year, people will start comparing 2018 A level results of EJC (newest JC) vs. National JC (one of the oldest JCs), and also vs. Victoria JC. The pioneering batch (born 2000) are the dragonites, the first batch to set the track record, the platform stage for subsequent future generation(s). Is going to be exciting ! The dragons & the phoneix, are all geared up, motivated to prove themselves.

If 2018 A level results from EJC prove to be close to or on par with that of NJC, confidence will soar !
EJC will become highly sought after, in the years to come.

NJC..[/quote]To add on, RJC's very first A level wasn't too shabby hor. If I remembered correctly, with this results, RJC propelled itself to the be among the top 3 JC at that time. So who is to say that EJC will not repeat the same feat ?

When we were the pioneer batch in RJC, we always have this additional determination to do extremely well so as to set the stage for future generations. We do have the \"Raffles\" name to carry. This actually gives us more motivation to excel in both our studies and CCAs. I am sure the pioneer batch of EJC students feels exactly the same now. The heritage, prestige and expectations of SNGS/SCGS/CHS rests heavily on their shoulders and they will set the high bar for the new JC

Why no confidence? The school has a good principal, excellent teachers and top notch cohort. Not to mentioned a brand new state of the art campus by the park in 2 years time.

If the parent did not do enough research and based her decision on feelings and hearsay, then i must say she is quite ill informed

                        mindays:

As much as I would like to make a fair comparison, due to limited substantial evidence, it is difficult to compare A level results, be it RV or NY. Any qns related to exact figures should be directed to the school/college. This is the best that I could do, up to what I know:

                        RVHS 2015 A level results
                        H2 Subjects

                        38.3% A for Chemistry
                        58.1% A for Biology
30.0% A for China studies in Chinese
9.1% A for China studies in English
47.1% A Chinese Language and Literature
                        100.0% A for German
                        40+% A for Mathematics
                        40+% A for Physics

                        Evidence: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Oneah46v3NE

                        NYJC 2015 A level results:
                        Mean Rank points: 81/90
                        58.5% A H2 Chemistry
                        approx. 65% A H2 Math
                        100% A H2 Art
                        40+% A H2 Physics

                        I hope this helps
Please quote the evidence for NYJC 2015 A level results. I remember the 2015 % 3H2 distinctions of RVHS was published in its website and was better than NYJC's verbal declaration by a forummer during some earlier discussions. NYJC didn't publish any NYJC results then.
