Club 3 or more Kids

yes my kids do entertain themselves. However my #2 n #3 fight often, so i get screaming kids while i do my chores :s. if only my #1 n #2 at home..i will hv peaceful and quiet timeThank you all the mums for sharing your stories. We can learn so much from each other and get mutual encouragement. I'll be taking no pay leave when #3 arrives to resume a SAHM life. There are many reasons, and one was the thought that there are only 24 hrs in a day and you have to squeeze in so much with 3 kids. I know I'll be most grumpy if I have to put myself through the stress of juggling work and family. I was happiest when i was a SAHM.
24hr-mum talked about TV. With my first one, i used to use the TV as a babysitter so that i could get my chores done while he was entertained. But now that i have two, i realise they entertain themselves so they don't watch tv at all. I'm hoping that this will continue when #3 arrives.
I wanted to ask if you find that your kids are able to play among themselves so that it frees pockets of time up for you to take a breather or do your chores?
(but this scenario is very seldom)

sometimes i get so sick and tired of them… soooo noisy and its busy for me from the minute i open my eyes in the morning, till i close my eyes at night.
sometimes i feel like giving up, and just return to work, get my salary, my yummy bfast, lunch, shopping and chit chat time.
but if i returned to work, who will look after them? maid? childcare?.. i just cant do it.
i must say i do see results from being SAHM, they are so much more disciplined and they do better in school. We are temporary staying with my parents and it makes being a sahm tougher (think u know y).
alot of time i just feel like giving up!
as i m typing this, they are monkeying around. ask them nap, dont listen. talk to them nicely, they ignore. must scream and cane… ??? crap -

Oh dear porcupine12trade! You know, I only have 2 now, but when things get overwhelming for me, I tell the boys that mummy is going for a timeout. And I lock myself up in my bedroom. Of course, the rest of the house is child friendly. The kids hate it. DS2 who is 3 will cry for me to come out, but DS1 (6yrs) is old enough to know that I won't come out till they keep quiet, so he will get his brother to calm down. And when all is calm, and I feel I can face the world again, I come out and we all exchange hugs and kisses.sometimes i get so sick and tired of them.... soooo noisy and its busy for me from the minute i open my eyes in the morning, till i close my eyes at night.

But yes, sometimes there is quite a lot of screaming going on at home. I can't imagine what it will be like when DS3 comes along. Got to get a loud-hailer?
As a SAHM you need to take time out for yourself or you will go crazy, especially with 3 kids! -
screaming n caning is not uncommon in my hse. but over the years, i hv learnt how to set rules for them esp my boy n in controlling him. a lot of work in pre-empting his nonsense. but the cane still must be hung in my hse as a last resort when nothing works. sometimes the mere presence of the cane is enuf to tame my kids esp my boy cos they know i really cane hard when they do outrageous things eg standing on the chair / sofa wfout fear of toppling, rude, disobedient, fighting etc.
but after caning must sayang them also.
i wld say being a sahm means u hv time to teach them how to tidy their things, be more organised etc. basically u have time to enjoy their childhood.
i always think that kids wif both parents at wk may go thru life like this: infant care, childcare, student care, self-care when reach sec sch, until eldercare when they age…institutional care may not be bad, just i supp the feeling of being at home is nicer?? -

i see that ur kids are 3 yrs apart, so mayb better then mine. coz mine are 2 yrs apart. like ur #1 will b 7 when u hv #3. n ur #3 will b baby so cant be that noisy or fighting with his brothers. by time he is 3, ur #1 will b 9? i believe by P4, he wont wan to monkey around with the younger ones :)...so mayb you will b spared of 3 kids fighting and making noise.

oh and it doesnt help that my hb travels alot for his work

i must add that if u can control #1, u can make him/her the ‘class monitor’ at home to help u control #2 and #3

mummy3streams, porcupine12trade,
initial yrs were tough when kids were really young. DH always travel and it was hell when my mil was stayg wf me. now just me n maid n the kids even if DH travel i m still happy surviving.
takes a lot of parental control to bring up the 3. i do scream n yell (not a gd eg) when they really drive me med. but now i try to use the hug n love persuasion approach and train #1 to help me control the rest
