      Hi madinked,

Please don't take this wrongly, but I don't think thats a good idea.

We are nice to our maid. But we draw a line at certain things and going out on their own/roaming on their own is one. That is the number one cause of maids giving problems - just my humble opinion 😄

I don't find that different from giving the maids off days. They still go out.

      (1) I don't think I'm being nice to my maid. On the other hand, I've known of many others who are so sweet to their maids. Just like at my estate, I see maids with handphones, idling, doing nothing, just chatting on the phone. I disallow that of my maid. I also know of people who allow their maids to watch tv with them, etc.

      (2) For selfish reasons, I let her roam freely. First, I don't want to have to shop with her. Second, I don't want to bring her for expensive meals. And no, I can't leave her at home because I don't know what she will do to my 3 dogs.

Yah no way we are going to lend her the money. I’m just trying to buy time. To call her bluff.

Even if change maid, I want one in, one out, so less trouble.

By the way, her cousin ‘advised’ her to borrow money from us for the air tickets. LOL!.

I thought Hong Kongers treat their maids very well.

Any one wants to help me do some sleuthing? I managed to get her cousins’ numbers. Just wanted to really make sure they’re not in Singapore.

mummies, I’m more inclined than before that she’s lying. When I told her to borrow money from her cousins, (3 of them (she said all went on holiday).

thanks all. I just want to make sure of the options. If she is lying and just want to leave, I will send her away. No doubt. Problem is in less than 2 years, we’ve sent away one, 2 ran away and now this one.

MOM is going to be so unhappy with us. Now you all will think I’m employer from hell. But maid only has to do housework and cook. I look after bb myself. Just that my demands are strict since she only does housework, I demand them to be done properly.

She also has alternate sundays off, and I gave her off yesterday cos it was her birthday. But I also realised she did not clean the ledge properly and told her off last night.

How do we know she no longer wants to work for me already? Maybe her mum is really dead? And she wants to go back to oversee the last journey?

I did consult my agency who advised me against sending her back. They said after all the documentations, it will be past one week and no use even if she goes back. Then what if she comes out with pattern saying no one looks after her children since the mum is the main caregiver?

Or what if it’s real? Would not that make us too cold?

I am thinking of letting her go back, with money borrowed from her cousins here (if it’s real, I’m sure the cousins will lend her the money? Plus one of them married a caucasian) and tell her if she does not return in a week, her work permit will be cancelled. Good idea?
