Maybe you can try this centre, the Schooling Society. Many parents have been talking about the Chinese materials at this centre, suppose to be very popular and professional.

What exactly have they been “talking about” the Chinese materials? I want to know what differentiates their materials from other enrichment centers before I consider switching.

Happen to see a brochure from them last year. Their fees are in the range of TLL if I remembered correctly. No experience with him whatsoever. Too expensive for in my opinion.
Totally avoid The schooling society. Read the review here:

      Dear All,

I got the long waited call from my wait listed school yesterday!! Some one withdrew and my son was offered the spot.

I was literally screaming in the office yesterday when i received the call.

Took urgent leave to make a mad dash between two schools to apply and withdraw.

I guess NOV is the month of orientation and perhaps musical chair has started!

No harm calling the school to check up every week to ask if there's any withdrawal.

I did ask before what is the basis for selecting who to give the available slot to, and the school told me home-school distance, but maybe it varies across school...

      Good luck everyone!!
Congrats! The sch would want u to give a reply on the spot right? Else they can quickly give the slot to the next in line. Previously did u registered for that sch but was balloted out?
Sis, how come u will know that got someone withdrawn from your wait list SCH that you put on?

Because they posted their sch whatapps link on kiasuparents so I joined. Through their conversations from their chats knew abt the insider news that the waitlist school had 2 transfer out cases last week. But the 2 slots given out to the 1 SG who was balloted out. And another slot to a PR who was also balloted out in 2C. So i guess chances is slim to b able to get a plc be4 Jan if the selection is based on giving the available slots to those who r balloted out. Which is fair.

One sch that i put on waitlist, someone withdrawn and they gave this slot to someone who failed the ballot. So who they offer might b the same for other schools. Those of us who put on waitlist will queue behind those who failed the ballot.

Pls note: Nov/Dec schools are having their orentation.

I agree that there is no hard and fast rule for waitlisted schools to provide any good news before that start of Term 1. It is interesting to ask if people are interested in the waitlisted schools after their kids have already started in their assigned schools and I suspect that the answer depends on \"how long\" before that waitlisted school calls. If its within a month, I think most parents will go for their desired school, but once its into the regular term I think most parents would rather stay in the assigned school. I may be wrong, but that would be how I feel.

supposing the waitlisted school has affiliation, I feel it is worth to transfer when there is a vacancy.

I am waiting for a transfer from a SAP school-far away to a not so fantastic neighbourhood sch-nearby. What do u all think? Yes it depends on \"when\" the neighhourhood sch calls up. At this point seems like nobody in the right mind will withdraw else it will be like a \"musical chair\" syndrome everywhere.

Considering that from next year onwards the P1 and P2 have no more graded exams, there won’t be much impact to their academic learning if transferring here & there in those 2 years...

That makes the case even more interesting. No more exams, so how to evaluate students' progress? Or is there no need to evaluate their progress? So why do PSLE? Please. I'm not sure about the details but the implementation of the new exam format needs careful analysis and review for a number of years before we can comment on it.

What I heard from my teacher relative is that there will still be mini tests or holistic assessments (depending what they want to call it) throughout the year with or without the parent's knowledge.

      Hi sillygal_1608,

i guess there's no hard and fast rule and its up to the individual on whether you wish to call the school periodically to check. for me, l I tried calling up before i apply for 2CS (with a glimmer of hope) and got disappointed.

I will try calling again perhaps in NOV with another glimmer of hope.
I called up the sch today 26 Sept that we r on waitlist, the admin said still nobody withdraw.
I called up my choice school\\ today after receiving an email from the new school on pre-orientation admin exercise, also no one withdraw as of today. 😢
Asking your opinion what will u all do if the waitlist sch calls up in Mid Jan or Feb or in the middle of the semester 2019? Will u all disrupt your child and switch? Not taking into account the uniform and textbooks as those are not expensive, but the emotional concerns of the child.
