Registered at Poi Ching.. was there at 8.45am.. and to my horror... q no is 160 something liao.. :faint: :faint:

Maybe the queue# 160 is the number issued after from queue# 1 1st day in phase 2A1 and 2A2 and until today Phase 2B #160. Because cannot be 160 applicants for 47, 2B vacancies in Poi Ching. And the registration starts only at 830am. So cannot be within 15mins jump to 160 people.

• RE: 2018 P1 registration exercise for 2019 intake

Question: what if on the last day of registration for our phases and we go to the sch on site to ask, but the registration officer advised us to not to waste our chance and discouraged us from applying? My concerns are:

1. The sch might "play us out" or at real time there are withdrawals happening at the other counter, that particular officer does not know of. Hence, incorrect info/advise provided.
2. The officer find it a hassle to process additional applicants since/if all seats are filled up exactly.
3. The sch mgmt itself wish to prevent a ballot, the hassle of reporting and arranging the ballot with MOE, hence discouraged the incoming applicants on the last day from applying.

Then after the closing date you realised from the MOE balloting website that actually your distance/SC status actually u are eligible to register.

What are your thoughts if the above would happened?

i was told by RMPS tat 28 applied for 24 seats and all are SG + within 2km tat y i withdraw end up on MOE site it was 25 applied for 24 which mean the info was not accurate or they did not reli monitor sigh..oh well maybe it was fated...

If i were u, I will go for the ballot. As in 2A2, even if unsuccessful, u have nothing to lose. U can go forward with phase 2B and 2C so on.
Have a feeling u are being misled by the registration officer. Possible she/he probably \"lazy\" to process another applicant. Or they aim for the school not to ballot so discouraged the last day applicants not to register. This is human natural, is possible. So that is why the info provided to u at RMPS is different from MOE schs to be ballot site. I think the lesson learnt here for your case is to inisist u want to register. Be it whatever they discouraged.

Dear floppy,

Thanks for your quick reply. Alternatively, I am considering CHIJ Kellock as its nearer to RMPS, so no differences in terms of traveling. What is your feeling of 2C balloting for SCs? This school is rather low profile...other than St. Theresa Convent, is this school affiliating to others convent?

Thanks!
RMPS is the most highly sought after sch in that area with best results. And most of the new BTO residents at Ridgeview and Parcview, are aiming RMPS. U have been confirmed a place at 2A2 and many people are envy of u. What is the reason of u intending to withdraw? If u like a sch nearer to West coast near your place u can consider Qifa Pri which is at West coast.

I got a friend’s child in Radin Mas. Entered same year as the new principal, so she can’t comment on the difference.

The main thing is, RMPS gives a LOT of homework and academic standard is high. Tests are surprise tests, no date or warning given beforehand. If your child is average to below average, be prepared for lots of tears and to do extra coaching at home to keep up.

Your friend's child entered the same year as the new principal? So, the child should be in secondary school now? Just want to confirm we are referring to the same principal as my understanding is totally different from yours.

Most of it depends on the ability and how sensible the child is and not the school bah. I have 2 different relative's children in RMPS. One every yr in top class and had graduated to special stream in Sec sch. Another still struggling, 3 out of 4 subjects failed during SA. Taking up tuitions each for all 4 subjects. But I agree that the standard for RMPS is higher compared to the surrounding schools ard that area. If u observed, also lesser of other races in RMPS.

Any one knows what happened to our Chief Kiasu? Is he sick? Overseas? Or this site sold off? Around this time each year, he would have updated the balloting analysis after phase 1 and 2A1. Wrote to KSP FB messenger but no reply. (most of us also need his graph thingy so tat we can make decisions :p) But we do hope that he is alright and well.
I stay at Simei and I’m thinking to register for

1. Chongzheng (1-2km)
2. Raffles (>2km)

In dilemma which one should I choose. From history, balloting will be required for both school. I’m thinking to choose St. Anthony Canossian or Changkat as my back up for Phase 2C supplementary. Any kind soul can advise?

you should consider alternative.

ChongZheng usually balloting within 1-2km, this year 13 more applicant in phase 1 than last year. it looks like very close for a balloting or full within 1km. even if 1-2km ballot, the odd may not be favourable.

as for RGPS, this year phase 1 is lesser than last year. but for more than 2km folks, you are facing about 2 applicants to 1 vacancy odds.

Changkat is safe for 2Cs and st anthony canossian has 60 more places so should be fine as well.

The places that you considered are abit every where so maybe you can consider CHIJ katong, GMPS, and haig girls.

Thank you for the advice!
I stay at Simei but work around Clementi area. Therefore I’m thinking whether to choose a school near my house or should try a more popular school but further away. I need to travel to the west everyday anyway. I have another younger girl, that’s why I’m thinking will I have a better chance if I choose a girls school since I have two daughters only at home. Seems like girls school is more likely to get than co-ed school?

Among the school listed, which one will be a better school?
Chongzheng, Raffles, Changkat, St Anthony Canossian, CHIJ Katong, Haigs Girls, GMPS

The schools that are within 1km from my house are Angsana and East Spring which I’m not very keen.

1-2km I have Gongshang, Chongzheng, Changkat, Poi Ching, Yumin
Agree. Your case a sch near home would be a better choice. Think about what happens if u r on MC or on leave, u have to drive them from East to West then u head back home to the East, not feasible.

Hi all,

I am in a dilemma between 2 schools - Fairfield Methodist School (Primary)- phase 2a1, >2km or
St Margaret's Prinary School - phase 2c, 1-2 km.

I have pretty good memories of my days in Fairfield, but my main concern is the distance. My elder son is currently in a
boys school. So having siblings in different schools is not an issue for me.

Which school would u select? Appeciate your kind advice/opinions. Thanks'

St Margaret’s primary is moving to a temporary site jan 2020-Dec 2021 at 2 mattar road (current machpherson primary)

Strange, why is the holding school so far away from the original site?

Thks, been all good advise above.

Looks like this year lot of parents are planning of securing a place 1st in earlier phase (but the sch is far from home) then monitor, withdraw and reapply in their preferred sch of choice (which is nearer to home). Hope the govt would be able to come up with a solution so we need not "play such games" for such cases (have priority in earlier phase in schs far far away but schs nearer to home all high% need to ballot.

Any idea when will the p1 2018 sch balloting history (the page with the graph) be out for phase 1 analysis? So that we can view how many vacancies and % left after phase 1. (Not the MOE site one).

And 2017 and 2018 difference in the number registrations for each phases?
